Friday Picture Prompt - Silence

"Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one's head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no to-morrow. To forget time, to forgive life, to be at peace."
— Sylvia Plath (The Bell Jar)

Is it possible to translate Silence into Art?  This painting goes by that name - has it brought the concept into visualization? How does the poet, whose medium is the word, either written or spoken, capture the absence of sound on the page?

Anyone up to the challenge, leave a link to your poem, and a comment to explain your creative process. Let's share our approaches to writing.

Cool picture prompt. It reminded me of a poem I wrote when I was 16 about silence, so I posted the old poem. So far too much head pain today to write a new one, but maybe later on I will give it a go - silence is MUCH friendlier for me now, and I live in it most of the time. With chronic fatigue and chronic head pain, silence is an easier medium to bask in:)

Managed a poem about Silence 2011. I liked this prompt!

The thought behind my poem on "silence" seems to come more from the Silvia Plath bit of verse than the photo. And it got me to think of the silences in nature.

I have also posted an older poem, which seems apposite to the theme of death and silence.. Will be back with something new; it's still in the conception phase :)
