We are all very familiar with this dear member of Real Toads, and her sensitive way with words, but she assures me that she is a bit of a clown!

When I'm a hermit
I'll finally become friends with silence
I'll learn how to cook
and sew
and work the soil
and recognize the sounds
of small creatures in the night.
When I'm a hermit
I'll abandon the world I know
and become one with
the mysterious unknown universe
above me
below me
around me
inside me.
When I'm a hermit
I'll lose sight of people
they'll lose sight of me
I'll write occasionally
to talk about
the sky
the wind
the stones
and how sometimes
I wonder what life would have been like
'If'.

Boredom ~ Kenia Cris |
I started taking photos after hearing about Miksang Photography, which requires the photographer to stop, connect with the world and actually see everything around him.
Latched Gate ~ Kenia Cris |
I've never had calm eyes but I thought it was easier than haiku to start with - it wasn't, but after I started capturing the world my own peculiar way, it became a passion.
To Love Someone ~ Kenia Cris |
Kenia has kindly made these images available for our poetic inspiration, and invites us to view her work on Flickr. Her more abstract pieces can be seen on THIS page. However, we ask that you do not select another image from that source without first asking permission of the artist.

that is a really cool angel pic kenia...
ReplyDeleteKerry, thanks for featuring my photos/collages. <3
ReplyDeleteBrian, I'm glad to hear you liked it. I find it the best collage I've ever created, still I love it when other people see something in it, too. :)
Love the hermit poem! A lot said in few words/lines. Recently wrote a "being a hermit" poem too. Guess many artists have this in them?
ReplyDeleteWow, Kenia! Your hermit poem really speaks to me. I live much like a hermit and, in fact, if I could have the life of my dreams, I would live in a one room cabin the true wilderness, with nothing man-made within 50 miles (at least, preferably more). I, too, have "become friends with silence".......I LOVE LOVE LOVE your poem. And your photos are spectacular!!!!!!! Love the little angel looking out the train window, bored. I love the way you "see" the world. You are very talented. I will be back with something sparked by your work. There is no way to look at it, without being inspired!!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pics! Easy to find some inspiration from these.
ReplyDeleteAlmost overdosing on inspiration with those beautiful photos! Can't wait to see what the others have created!
ReplyDeleteI've been away today, but have been giving these images some thought. I will be back with a piece, though I have not yet selected my favourite favourite.
ReplyDeleteThe "No Song To Me In The Numb Hours"...totally sang for me! An
ReplyDeleteamazing photo!!
Me too...My post is up ~
ReplyDeleteKenia, your work is absolutely beautiful! I especially love the photo of the forest - that chair and that paper hat are such unique accents - and hope you like my little offering today! 8-)
ReplyDeleteI used the gate pic for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI am on a "blog break" now but I know I will be entering a piece possibly as late as next weekend... I was particularly inspired by the gate photo.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading intelligent, touching and melodic poems written for my photos and collages, I'm leaving my own here.
ReplyDeleteI needed to say I'm so happy some of the girls' poems speak my soul. :)
Kisses!
Kenia, such wonderful poetry and beautiful photos. You are an amazing talent.
ReplyDeleteHi Kenia....fantastic pics and great poem, the last line wreaking havoc with the thoughts I was having about the subject matter up until that point...guess that was the point. Thanks for sharing and I will be making it by to look at more of your work...so far, I likey. I'm corey by the way.
ReplyDeletePhew! I think I am close to catching up ;D
ReplyDeleteThanks Kenia for the inspiration! :D

ReplyDeletelovely inspiration here, Kenia... I chose the trees in fog pic for my contribution
ReplyDeleteHi Kenia, your poetry and photos are inspiring.
ReplyDeleteHi Kenia ~~ I wrote today for the Garden Toads and used your picture, "Bored", for inspiration. God Bless, I've looked at some of your pictures, photos, and art. You are wonderful and should get a lot more use from your wonderful creative talent.
ReplyDelete..
p.s. I've changed it to a little song from the original poem that I wrote. If you wish to look you could make recommendations about keeping it that way. Before, the 'refrain' was the fourth stanza.
