Wordy Thursday with Wild Woman : MUST LOVE DOGS

Write a poem of tribute to or about  a dog you have loved – and/or still love. Tell us about him or her, and the gifts he or she brought into your life. Is there a story that will tell us who your dog was or is?

"Seize the day!"
Pup-cakes for their birthdays!

If you are a cat person, introduce us to your cat.

And if you have never known or loved a dog or cat up close and personal, write a poem about your favourite animal, whether domesticated or wild.

Let's look at the world through the kind, intelligent, loving eyes of animals today.

  2. I knew he would! LOL. I have been thinking of Sundance! I'm looking forward to reading about some wonderful critters. I will be travelling today, to the farm, to look after my sister's horses and the puppy for a few days. So there will be a gap in getting around to everyone. But I will have my tablet with me and will be sure to visit everyone. I am especially looking forward to today's poems. I can never get enough, when it comes to animals. I wish someone could plunk me down in the middle of a sanctuary for rescued animals. I am dog-deprived these days, and there are so many wonderful creatures who need love.

  3. It's not in poetic form, but I've been meaning to post a prose tribute to a long-gone cat, Bisquit, for years. I promise to post it soon. Meanwhile, here's a song that was actually written for and sung to a kitten called Iris.

  4. I LOVE that Iris had a song sung to her. Lucky kitten. I am looking forward to the prose tribute as well. I can never get enough, when it comes to animals.

  5. Hello Sherry! Thank for hosting again. I've re-posted one of my favourite writes on Zeus. My muse couldn't think of anything new today...so here's hoping not too many have read it already. Have a great day :)

  7. I love this prompt. Maybe I will write to it. Today has been a very sad day and I am to be honest, tired of crying and writing about my dear dear animals always makes me cry.

  9. I know, Toni. The one I wrote for Pup set off such grief in me. I never knew i had so many tears! Dont worry, write if you want to, when you feel better. I am now at my sister's, where the new puppy is keeping us hopping. She ate the front off the new washing machine yesterday! Not on my watch, thankfully!

  10. This is a wonderful prompt, Sherry. Thank you. For once it wasn't Adi who got the lime-light. It was instead my first dog, "we" had him from when I could remember until about age nine or eleven. I was about six when for the episode I told. I didn't write every thing, there was more. Some I don't write or tell about.

  11. Such a long time since I had a pet in my life... I cannot bear to have them dying on me, I think I will bring up a cat we had a long time ago.

  12. Jim and Bjorn, i loved your poems. I agree, the dying is so hard. They come to teach us the most wonderful love, and when they leave, they teach us about loss. Somehow harder to bear than the human losses. Maybe because they come closer in.

  14. I know these poems will bring a tear to my eye, but what would we be without our faithful animal companions?

  15. I know, Kerry. I somehow had not thought of that aspect of the prompt. Tears and smiles.
