Art FLASH!

Greetings to all poets! After the fervour of poetry writing in April, I expect that many of us are taking a break from participation in challenges. But for those who find themselves in the mood for a collaboration this weekend, I am offering one of my own pieces for your inspiration today.

Recently, I have been delving in my long neglected pastime of painting and drawing in the medium of ink and combining it with poetry. One of my best loved themes is Dystopian, and I have done a series of Tarot cards, with a twist. This is my favourite: The Lovers.

The Dystopian Tarot, The Lovers

My other cards can be viewed at This Rough Magic.

There are no restrictions placed on this challenge: Let the image speak to you and respond in a poetic or prose form of your choosing: Literal! Figurative! Reflective! Narrative! Symbolic!

  1. Greetings to all! I am looking forward to reading your Dystopian love poems. I will be back on Sunday to comment.

  2. Mine isn't exactly a love poem. I saw Adam and Eve.ish characters, snake, fruit, and spontaneously acted on that.

  3. Mine is love gone wrong, I suppose, write. I am hurrying so there are liable to be uncorrected misspellings.

  4. Thank you for sharing your artwork with us!

  5. There is so much dystopian in the normal story so my word fell just like that.

  6. I am rather astounded at how much poetry I've continued writing, considering how burned out on poetry prompts I was. I've dived into Carpe Diem's Tan Renga challenge with both feet. I suppose it doesn't hurt that I love the Tanka form.
Don't get me started on how I haven't even begun to comment on blogs from the A to Z challenge!

  7. I wanted Bjorn to know that I tried to comment on his poem, but his blog's Spam filter mistook my words for an afternoon snack. There is truth in his observation that the same actions the woman is reviled for the man tends to be praised for, particularly in matters of the loins.

  8. The original lovers!
Awww, the snake looks so sweet. And female!

I don't know if I will get time to write a poem today (catching up with a few things which got neglected in April) but wanted to say how I love this Tarot card – everything about it!

  9. Oh, I wanted to say the rest privately, but as I can't find out how, here goes:

I'm a Tarot deck collector (like many professional readers)– not of anything and everything but those I fall in love with. On the basis of this one card – will you be offering yours for sale, and if not, may I acquire copies of the images (and how)?

  10. Sorry I arrived a little late this weekend, Kerry, but I'm using our bank holiday weekend to get ahead with moderating as the exams are close behind. I love your take on The Lovers, especially the style and the monochrome with a splash of colour. I had to enlarge the image and explore every detail - there is so much to take in! I hope I've done it justice.
