The purpose of this writing community is to ensure an intimate and supportive environment and an improvement of our writing skills. We are always open for change and knowledge. It is not dictated to its Members what they must participate in, it is just asked that they stay active and supportive. It is a place that always welcomes Followers and Visitors ~ every prompt and challenge is open to anyone who walks this way. This can be a place where we seek help, give help or just hang out within a friendly group . However, it is common courtesy to provide a link back to a blogsite one has used for an idea or to display one's work. Management reserves the right to remove links which make no mention of Real Toads in their post, with the exception of Open Link Monday.

Goals & Challenges

The Goal of RT Membership:

1.  To always remain active. (Post, Respond, Comment weekly)
2.  To have fun and get to know one another.
3.  To offer positive and helpful feedback.
4.  To always be open to suggestions and change for the betterment of the group.

Challenges:

A variety of prompts and challenges are posted on a two-week turn around system.  They will vary in complexity and you can choose to respond to them any way you wish, a poem, an essay or simply by way of comment or discussion.  They are meant educate us in the world of writing, art and poetry.  These will come from within the member group. We encourage all members to support the work of the poets who participate.

Personal Challenge of Members:

A member will challenge another member with a particular theme, prompt, picture, form or whatever takes your fancy.
The challenge will be made behind the scenes, but the end result will be featured on the Real Toads Home Page in either the Tuesday or Saturday slot.  The poets may also choose to post their pieces on their own blogs or provide links back to Real Toads.  In this way, our members will have an opportunity to showcase their work in our open forum.

Guidelines:

  • Contact the member of your choice via e-mail and propose a challenge.
  • Allow the member to decline or discuss your proposal until you have reached a consensus.
  • Offer your support behind the scenes, if so requested.

Getting Started:

As with the interviews, I will make the first challenge to get the idea off the ground. Thereafter, the person whom I challenge will challenge a member of his or her choice, and so on until the last member on the list challenges me.
