Hello my little blooms from the Imaginary Garden. Today I want to celebrate the art of Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939). Czech it out, Mucha was born in Moravia, about which I know next to nothing, but I like to think that, in his day, the place was alive with Gypsys and beautiful half-swooning women.
His style is called Art Nouveau, and during his lifetime, his art often graced advertisements and show posters. Today, after a century and more, it still is.
Although not all his paintings are in his famous style, he is best known for his 19th century beauties, reclining in natural or mythic settings, with their long hair putting modern volumizers to shame.
What I'd like for you to do is to write a poem inspired by any of these works by Mucha, or any other you care to use, as long as it's a Mucha. His art can be found easily by searching "Mucha art" at Google images or any other browser. Then post your poem, link back here to this post and sign the linky so that we can all come and see what you've written! Have fun! I'm going to leave old Alphonse himself here to watch over things.
Great prompt, Shay. I love Mucha and have always wanted to be one of his models, except that then I would have died by 1935, so maybe it's best the way it is. My poem will be up a little later, after I take a good look at by the light of day tomorrow.

This prompt was truly inspiring. I don't know if what I have written could be called poetry, though. I'm not usually a fan of one word lines, but this is how it developed.

This was challenging for me and I wrote a couple things I did not really care for before this one kind of materialized while I was doing errands this afternoon. So strange how elements of life mix and materialize in one's life.
Happened to be scanning the blogs I follow and seeing many had pictures by Alphonse Mucha, soI followed them back here to your site! I have an early poem that his Four Seasons had inspired. Hope you don't mind my sharing it here!
interesting and i really enjoyed learning more about Mucha, shay, thank you for that. even if i sometimes feel like i'm flunking out of school because image prompts are way challenging for me. i don't think i'm in, but who knows! maybe something will come over the weekend.

Mucha's art is beautiful. I went the feminist path with mine...more reaction to the situations of my daughters.
