Teresa doesn't like to talk about myself too much, but she has shared that she teaches full time as a junior high special education teacher and taught behavior disorders for many years. Blogging, especially poetry and photography, have been great ways to deal with many of the stressors that come from such a position.

My job description last year was pretty boring, and poetry is the only way I managed to get through the year without dying of boredom. I would have my little spiral notebook in the back of the room looking like I was taking notes or working or something, but I was really writing poetry.

Now that my son is grown, the farm and animals are truly my passion. If I could, I'd quit my day job and farm full time. I love living close to nature. My farm blog has been wonderful because I've met so many people out there that love goats. Here I thought I was the only crazy goat lady out there, but there's a lot of us Goat Sisters. The animals have been frequent sources of inspiration for my poetry. Often a poem written about a mother's love or the loss of a child is inspired by events on the farm.

Even though I love photography and poetry, I seldom use my own pictures as inspiration. It generally happens the other way around. After writing a poem, I search the archives for a picture to fit it, or I have to rush out and take one that will fit the poem.

ReplyDeleteTeresa's images threw me into a tizzy. I had been planning a poem around depression but didn't want it to be a "wallow." This allowed me to ponder things I miss when I stay home wallowing...! Also, I did NOT cut and paste any images; instead, I invited folks back here to see and also included a link to Teresa's site.
