"Ring the bells that still can ring.
Forget your perfect offering.
There is a crack, a crack, in everything--
That's how the light gets in."
For this Fireblossom Friday challenge, I want you to write a poem about a crack, fissure, rupture, split, or breaking point. It can involve something tangible, or intangible. It can be in any form you like.
Just one thing...please only link a NEW poem written for THIS challenge. Thanks, and have fun writing.
mmmmmmmusing on that!

Hmmm... This is sure to give rise to many interesting interpretations. Thanks for always challenging us to dig deep, Shay.
ReplyDeleteAnd a BIG thank you for the Leonard Cohen. Those words can hit a person where it hurts and heal at the same time.
ReplyDeleteFB - Had much fun with this challenge :) Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you for being here to keep me awake. Closing in on the end of a sitter shift (for an elderly client, not a baby.) I'm ready to go to sleep!
ReplyDeleteDuring my winter break, my son and I spent an hour or so in a vintage vinyl record shop ... so many Cohen albums, I lost count ~~ in music heaven! Great challenge, Shay.
ReplyDeleteA favorite song and a favorite idea. I'll be back to post. Congrats on the book of three. Hard to publish and write at the same time, isn't it? Thanks for adding this to this morning.
ReplyDeleteI saw the title and immediately finished the Cohen quote! One of my faves. If I can still remember how to write, I'll be all over this.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite quotes too - yay. I shall return with something because - seriously? - my entire WORLD is cracked.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how anyone can write up to the standard set by the author of this challenge--but this song is perhaps my favorite Cohen song of latter years, and the challenge itself can't fail to make a writer at least try to write. Thanks for the inspiration, Shay.
ReplyDeletethis is my first attempt with real toads... so, submitted my lines after a lot of apprehension :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful challenge, Shay. Gotta love Leonard Cohen.

ReplyDeleteWhat a thought provoking challenge... I went all over the place with this one and finally found something OK.
ReplyDeleteoooh, this is a good one :D
ReplyDeleteThanks FB~
I will be by tonight or tomorrow night to read everyone's posts. I'm excited to see what you have all done with this! It seems wrong that my paying job is interfering with my blog visits!
ReplyDeletehey Shay, just saying, cool prompt, i'm way way behind this week, but will write to it for sure, even if late. xo
ReplyDelete@Deborah. I'm sorry I couldn't log in to leave a comment on your blog. I thought your poem was a wonderful abstract piece with a sinister undertone. Thank you for participating in Fireblossom Friday.
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge Leonard fan, I have all his albums... This is one of his best songs
ReplyDeleteThis was another learning trip..a crack in everything is absolutely necessary. Looking forward to see the interpretations of the toads in the garden.
ReplyDelete@Elizabeth, I do not see a place to leave a comment on the page you linked but would like to say how much I enjoyed your poem.
ReplyDeleteGreat prompt!
ReplyDeleteI liked Elizabeth's too, and couldn't see where to comment.
ReplyDeleteI am finally making all my visits...sorry for the delay!
Just starting reading the poems... it will take me awhile, as I am hitting a few here and there... but so far, I love the diversity. What a talented and creative bunch of poets we have here in the Garden.
