Words Count With Mama Zen

Morning, Toads!

Today, we're going to be Poe-ets.  Here's the drill:

  • go to your window
  • look outside
  • write about what you see, but . . .
  • make it scary!

That's it.  Fifty words or less.  Ready . . . set . . . go!

  1. Goodness me! What a way to start my day. LOL. Sometimes an overgrown garden sparks the imagination!

  4. Izy's interview posted ahead of MZ's post today so I have rescheduled it for tomorrow. Please come back to read it (it may not appear in the blogger feed again) as it features 3 poets who are very close to our hearts.

Thank you for another super challenge, MZ.

  7. Oh, a Poe-et. Quoth the poet, nevermore.
Well, maybe just this once, as we're being asked nicely, I'll see what I can do.

  8. Kind of scary when the wind sways our trees to and fro ..... roots are shallow, soil is porous.

  9. Right up my dark, gaslit, alley, MZ. Great challenge, and I hope I didn't cheat too badly. Back later to read.

  12. I wouldn't say I've had fun but it's connected my feelings to paper which can only be good

  13. Exactly 50 words. hope it's frightening enough.

  14. That was fun -- I threw together a spooky, rough draft when I got home tonight and snapped a photo too. All in the futile but fun attempt to capture part of the richness of my mind's-eye-and-heart.

I couldn't pass up a prompt by the famous Mama Zen whose bizarreness resonates with me. But I must say, this exercise set a spooky mood for me. For indeed, the owner of this house died in this house -- alone. And for the next 5 days I am alone here while my wife and kids visit my in-laws across the state. They even took the dogs. All I have here are the chickens and the Degus to spook me.

  15. Oooooops, damn, I forgot the 50 word thing again. Damn.
I'm the kid that got in trouble all the time at school for not following directions.
Please feel free to delete my link.
    Arggh -- 153 ! (well, it's got 50 in it!)

  16. just a brief comment to apologize for posting my interview on the wrong day. Sorry y'all. I been working 15 hour days and plumb lost track of my days.
Lashings and apologies, in that order.

  17. My original idea was to write an uplifting Easter poem to my photos I took ... but thanks, Mama Zen (and Poe) for twisting that idea into something a bit grizzly.
