Get Listed for May: Pablo Neruda

Writing, reading, and commenting fatigue lingers from the April poem-fest.

So, straight to this month's Get Listed prompt.

I have winnowed the list from the (translated) poems of Pablo Neruda, specifically, from the bilingual edition Pablo Neruda - Selected Poems (Houghton Mifflin, 1970).

As a reminder, please write a new poem for this prompt using at least 3 of the list words (or reasonable variants), post it to your own site, and link to that specific poem (not just your blog) in Mr. Linky, below.

    Ha, thanks, Michael, I had already written this poem this morning, so I adapted it to include your listed words - nice and easy! I did not attempt Neruda's style because I, too, have poetry fatigue, LOL. For those posting later today, I wont have computer access again till tomorrow morning, so will catch up with you then.

    Hey M--I too have been thinking about something and used the words, and read the Neruda poems, but have to say that I kept more to my own poem. I may try to do another one tomorrow--agh. Pretty tired. Thanks.

    This is a Neruda week for me.. Yesterday I wrote a glosa based on one of Neruda's poem, and now you give these words. Actually They are almost a poem by themselves.. so for me it wrote itself..

    Hi M ~~ This was a nice choice for me, I was glad to meet Mr. Neruda.
    I chose your last set, Suburb, from "I'm Explaining a Few Things". I hurried on it as I wanted it posted last night.
    Seemed to me after I posted and read his that Neruda and I were sort on the same wavelength. Guess you have to be with those four words.

    Hard enough to use all the words (which, even though I didn't have to, I wanted to) without trying to ape Neruda as well! But a darkness crept in....

    Hey Michael--to be honest I was working on my first poem before the prompt. I so enjoyed reading your Neruda poems--I'd read two before, but it was great to revisit them more closely, and they led to this next one. Hope it okay to submit a second. Thanks. I got to the Met tonight! (BTW.) I happen to have had to stay in the City this weekend--so saw the Native American show which was great, and hope to go again tomorrow, maybe to NHM too--Thanks. k.
