Once more comes December, cold, snarling, and nasty
Here in the States it has been January this year. Thank you for the 'Burns', I enjoyed it. I did go to the printed version, my auditory appreciation isn't as good as reading. Google found me 'The Complete Works of Robert Burns' which had it fine. I have the print book, I bought it in the bookstore/gift shop at his birthplace in Alloway, Scotland. That was an enjoyable day. ..
Wonderful reading... Robert Burns is a very accessible poet, that always seems fresh to me. His poetry is perfect for songs, for bars and for being in company... I especially remember:
O my Luve is like a red, red rose That’s newly sprung in June; O my Luve is like the melody That’s sweetly played in tune.
And how it was interpreted by Evert Taube in Swedish:
Min älskling, du är som en ros, en nyutsprungen skär, ja, som ljuvaste musik, min älskade, du är.
Hey friends, I'm actually in the process of changing jobs, if you can believe it. Which will be a great thing! If I'm sketchy or hard to find in the coming days, that's why. Not that you're likely to notice as I'm already fairly sketchy. :) But this new gig will be really good for me (and my family) and I hope/plan to be more myself and more creative as the result.
Thank you to everyone in the garden! I have had a lot of computer issues. I am having to shop for computers. That's why I haven't been around consistently. It will all be straightened out soon! I hope!! :/

Sorry for adding some Swedish here :-)
I was brought up on Burns and love him dearly. (Also very keen on Robert Carlyle, ever since his role as Hamish Macbeth.)
ReplyDeleteI've finally broken a bit of a poetic drought by gong through old journal extracts. :)
I could listen to Robert Carlyle read Rabbie Burns all day!
