"A poem can come out of something seen, something overheard, listening to music, an article in a newspaper, a book, a combination of all these… There’s a kind of emotional release that I then find in the act of writing the poem. It’s not, ‘I’m now going to sit down and write a poem about this.’"
-- Adrienne Rich, 1929-2012

ReplyDeleteThe Games have be lapsing and late
Thanks for your indulgence
much love...
Ha. It is a great quote by Rich. My poem for today actually started as a bit of an exercise. Oh well! Thanks so much, Marian. k.
ReplyDeleteI was trying to write a 55 with this but it took me sooooo long and I just gave up. So here's 60-something :)
ReplyDeletePosting one from a few months ago, that I almost didn't share because of its sadness, emptiness. It feels like the space I'm in now, and I thought of it when reading of "Lacuna"...(though since it is longer than 55, it fits better here)...
ReplyDeleteMarian, it was nice meeting Adrienne. I, a sow's ear from way back, was not familiar with her. When I read her quote I though right away of the little rock I had washed this morning. It had been gathering dust, foreign to it/her now.
ReplyDelete..
My write for 55 plus was late so I'm posting it here. So happy it worked out that way since I did the plus part too!
ReplyDeleteI've been very busy offline and haven't been able to write or read much. My niece is visiting from Florida this week so I'll be even busier.
I will be reading this week and catching up.
Hugs! Bekkie
Thank you for this inspirational quote Marian
ReplyDeleteI'll be reading and catching up finally, after my summer break. I'm hoping to be inspired enough to crank out some new words...as I've had none lately.
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't think I'm being lazy posting a poem I already shared on dVerse Poets Pub, but it's been a busy week and I'm going off-line for a couple of days. See you at the weekend hopefully!
