Curtains. From a mundane household item to a haunting metaphor, their allure will envelop your spirit into the generous folds. When closed they instantly cast a room into blackness even on the brightest of days; while in winter they stand guard and protect us against the biting cold.

Curtain Falls
We'll be ready when the curtain might fall
Feel my heart beating when the crowd calls
I gotta read between the lines
Cause I'm living out the script of my life
Cause we all got a part we must play
And I've done it but I've done it my way
I gotta read between the lines
Oh (oh)
In the script of my life
Feel my heart beating when the crowd calls
I gotta read between the lines
Cause I'm living out the script of my life
Cause we all got a part we must play
And I've done it but I've done it my way
I gotta read between the lines
Oh (oh)
In the script of my life
"There is someone who looks after us from the behind the curtain. In truth we are not here, this is our shadow." -Rumi
"We humans have always needed rituals to draw like curtains over the chasms of the unknown. Without them we go mad, I think." -Patricia J. Williams

So, our challenge today is to write about curtains. You can draw inspiration from the music video by Blue and the quotes which I have shared above. Choose your own form or write in free verse, if preferred. I look forward to reading what you guys come up with. Please do visit others and remember to comment on their poems. Have fun!
I shall be back this evening, to see what everyone crafted from behind the curtains.
