The object of this challenge is to write a poem of between one and twelve lines, in a form of your choice. Our point of departure is the phrase "long-ago rooms" from the poem When You Come by Maya Angelou. Participation includes, but is not limited to, those who have taken up the challenge to write 30 poems in 30 days. All are welcome!
A beautiful prompt, Kerry! I love Maya Angelou and only hope my shadorma can do the line justice.
ReplyDeleteThanks for such a thoughtful prompt Kerry. Micro was just right for this morning as was the theme.
ReplyDeleteOh goody, micropoetry! And what a lovely prompt.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the prompt!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful prompt! I love the no more than 12 lines constraint as well keeping us brief and on point.
ReplyDeleteLoved the prompt, Kerry!💜 I attempted a Nonet. Day eleven! Phew!☕
ReplyDeletePardon me for subjecting you to a second – but I suddenly realised I used an old poem yesterday for the Tuesday Platform, which is fine in other months, but in April the idea is to write 30 new poems in 30 days, so I needed an extra. It does have a (forced and tenuous) connection to today's prompt.
ReplyDeleteDamn! I wrote for the poem, but blew the line count. Oh, well. I'll post it for you guys anyway.
ReplyDeleteThank you,Kerry. I haven't used the exact phrase for fear of Maya's ghost taking nautical vengeance on my spleen. But I am here, still scribbling, on day 11.
ReplyDeleteI had the worst time with Blogger for some reason, this morning. But I prevailed in the end. All hail Mighty Mouse lol.
Hi All! I arrived home from work to find all these links waiting for me - it has made me very happy.
ReplyDeletePlease feel free to post more than one poem (if you are playing catch up) and take the extra lines if you need them. No worries. Every prompt is a starting point- hopefully to something you are pleased to have written.
I enjoyed the poem by Maya Angelou, so wrote a quick bit of Bad Poetry in response to this prompt.
ReplyDeletethank you Kerry for this evocative and quite painful prompt, even in microcosm -
ReplyDeleteOh this phrase sparked some memories. Thanks, Kerry. It is a rainy indoor day here, perfect for reading poetry.
ReplyDeletethanks for hosting and the great prompt Kerry - Maya is such a voice - so powerful and just a beautiful soul -
ReplyDeletehope you catch your breath!
Hi, Garden Poets! Thanks for the prompt, Kerry! Happy to go micro!
ReplyDeleteHad a busy day, come home and write a ditty. Thank you Kerry, your find today was sad. Wasted days, wasted lives. Mine turned out 59 words, I left it that way. It is true, there's much much more for a middle but it would be boring. Or sad.
