I AM IN NEED OF MUSIC
I am in need of music that would flow
Over my fretful, feeling fingertips,
Over my bitter-tainted, trembling lips,
With melody, deep, clear, and liquid-slow.
Oh, for the healing swaying, old and low,
Of some song sung to rest the tired dead,
A song to fall like water on my head,
And over quivering limbs, dream flushed to glow!
There is a magic made by melody:
A spell of rest, and quiet breath, and cool
Heart, that sinks through fading colors deep
To the subaqueous stillness of the sea,
And floats forever in a moon-green pool,
Held in the arms of rhythm and of sleep.
There is something about poems by Elizabeth Bishop that stir my soul and my muse from time to time. Greetings poets, wayfarers and friends, it's a beautiful day here and I am looking forward to reading poetry with a cup of coffee.
If you have any thoughts to share, ideas you wish to release into the wild or a world view to express, then you have come to the right place. Please share a poem of your choice and enjoy the company of your fellow scribes. We look forward to reading you and hope you have a wonderful day ahead.
Hello all and happy tuesday... have started a small little project on the seven vices based on paintings of Pieter Bruegel the elder...
ReplyDelete@Bjorn; Wow! That sounds exciting! 😊 Can't to see how your project turns out. Happy Tuesday!💞☕
ReplyDeleteI too like "mood music" when I'm in the mood for it. 60 and 70's Classic Rock elevates me, C&W a little goes too far, easy orchestra played softly can play a long time. No hard rock or hip hop for my ears.

Thank you for introducing Elizabeth Bishop. I will try to check her out.
DeleteBTW, does anyone reading hear remember the Rock Song, "Dead skunk in the middle of the road?" YouTube does.
..
Here, not hear. Spellfix got me. Sorry

Hi, happy poets! I am in beautiful Victoria, B.C., and it is spring-like. I am puppy-sitting while my daughter and her husband go to a concert, so I am a happy girl!
ReplyDeleteSherry, have some fish and chips for me at the little outdoor restaurant there on the wharf, near the houseboats. Theirs are yummy!!
