Micro Poetry ~ Fill The Empty Parts

The object of this challenge is to write a poem in no more than 10 lines (but you may write in fewer than 10 lines all the way down to a single American sentence). Choose your own form or write in free verse, if preferred. We are taking inspiration today from Rupi Kaur, using the reference: 'fill the empty parts...'

More examples of the poet's work may be viewed on Instagram @rupikaur. I look forward to reading a number of short poems. The link does not expire, so please feel free to write more than one poem, and a return to comment on poems linked later would be appreciated.

  2. I'm not long back from my daughter's, where I spent several days looking after my gorgeous eighteen-month-old grandson. He is into everything! I had him from 8.30 am to 6 pm and I was completely exhausted, but very happy. That's why I've been offline. What a joy to return to your wonderful prompt, Kerry - something short and sweet to get my writing teeth into. I love the Rupi Kaur poem. I'm looking forward to reading the responses.

  3. I am very happy that everyone enjoyed this prompt.. but I must apologize for being late to the challenge myself. I was feeling ill yesterday - spring fever - and had to rest after work.
That being said, I am very eager to read the poems linked up. Thanks to all who participated.

  7. Been busy after I drafted in the middle of night with about 18 lines. Got home late last night. Then yesterday morning while sitting an hour in the physical therapy waiting room waiting for Mrs. Jim to finish I pared it down to ten nine syllable lines and posted. It shows me as old and being pathetic health wise. I'm a little better than that although I do have a missing part replaced, my left knee.
