Ella's Edge

I want you to keep an open mind...okay? Maybe I should of said, open mouth.  For me sweets are kind of forbidden, but I love them. I have to work out, burn it off  to avoid high blood sugar.  I love the look of them, the forbidden appeal, the rich, lush, and decadent taste.  I want you to think of a favorite food.  Yes, we are writing a poem selecting a food photo at this site Food Porn.  Pick a category and find a photo, that tantalizes your taste buds. I wonder how many of us will pick the same category?!  You could use one of your own photos, whatever works for you.  I want all of us to read your poems and taste what you selected. Think of us meeting and all dining together. We all get to sample, what you have picked.  Be prepared to get hungry...  Remember this challenge is calorie free! :D

Berries are in season, in my neck of the woods. This one looks pretty tempting!

Maybe you prefer savory!

Have I made you hungry?  Sorry, about that~

Check this site out for the Best Pizza Dough Recipe.

Don't these treats look good!  Yum, Salted Caramel Chocolate Shortbread~

It is a pretty sweet challenge, okay maybe spicy.  Now, for this to really work and not read like a cook book, we need to attach a memory.  You can use your own photos, but a memory needs to be part of your poem.  It is the secret ingredient, which makes your selection unique!   Bon Appetite or maybe I should say Bon Memoire!

  2. Ah! 'Tis the season and all that. I love taking pictures of the food in front of me and my dinner partners just before the first bite. And then, camera away, the chewing and savoring . . . .

  5. I wonder are most poets, Foodies? lol
Karen-Thank you, I was worried what you all would think! What a site, this makes me smile Karen!

Susan-Hubby gets irritated when I snap photos and have a food moment. He now thinks I bake for my blog...lol (No, secretly I wanted to be a Food Stylist). You, too, perhaps?!

    Lolamouse-lol, I love this line! Me, too~

Hannah-It is okay, you drooled on me, lol. I was drooling when I wrote this challenge. :D Oooh, I hope not too much pain...

  7. When I think of food I think of my grandma who taught me so much about food and love, this challenge turned into a tribute to her and a place to share some yummy photos of the baking I do! Enjoy!

  8. Oh my word. Food porn? Wow. This sounds dangerous. I doubt I'll ever get around to writing anything. Those dishes look so yummy. This is an excellent prompt.

  9. Ella, I used to work for a publishing company. And we would frequently do food photo shoots. It's fascinating to see how inedible they make the foods in preserving their luster and visual "freshness" with chemicals.

  10. Shawna-I'm fascinated, I would love to hear more. I have read some horror stuff about it or maybe it was a foodie movie. Melted Crisco on ice cream, stuff to make things glisten, that are so gross. I hope you can join in Shawna, I would love to read yours.

Mystic Mom-Oh, this is going to be so endearing. I usually think of my Mom or grandmothers when I cook, bake. I went with a different approach. Can't wait...

Sherry-I know, all the recipes are above the photos on the FOOD PORN site. I apologize for making everyone hungry...sorry!

  11. I am on a very draconian diet right now(which is working very well and I am mostly very happy about it) and this page almost made me cry! In a good way--ah, the memories. I'm kind of afraid to write about it, but we'll see if anything pops up--a great prompt, Ella.

  12. Hedgewitch-Don't write if it will undermine you~ Really just skip it!
I have been trying to give up simple carbs. I do well for a while, than find it hard. If you do chose to write, go healthy! Good luck on your diet~

  13. Sorry I'm late. :)

Hedge, just look at a category that isn't tasty. I found one with an octopus floating in a jar. I was so close to writing about that one!

Let me know if you want me to send you a link to a non-appetizing photo so that you don't have to go to the web site. :)

  14. Ella, this is the perfect prompt for my mood this week. I NEED CHOCOLATE!!

Posted a comment yesterday, but apparently didn't take... now I have a poem in the mix! Love, Amy

  15. Oh, man. You're killin' me. I can't stop saying the phrase "Food Porn." And May is a no sugar month for me, so this was a little bit of (delicious) torture. ;)

  16. I couldn't find a picture of just chocolate, but that would be my besetting sin. I'm sorry for those on diets, but my poem is full of carbs (and fat come to think of it)

We call that caramel shortbreat "Millionaire's shortbread" because it costs a lot to make.
