Open Link Monday

Calling All Toads to the Garden...

This is the last open link of our anniversary month, and I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their thoughts shared, and incredible support of this site.  It fills me with the inspiration to embark on the second year of our group project in the hope it will go from strength to strength.  A special word of gratitude to those members who undertook to work together on our paired collaborations.  We have enjoyed the exceptional results of brilliant minds working together, and we will end this feature with our last post tomorrow. Be sure to drop in!

On this bright Monday, our open link provides everyone with the opportunity to share a poem of his or her choice, with no restrictions, except that it be the original work of the individual, and does not promote another  meme, or serve as any form of advertisement. Management reserves the right to remove any inappropriate links.
Please treat this invitation in the spirit in which it is intended, which includes visiting the blogs of the wonderfully talented poets who post alongside you and have a very happy day.

  2. It's been a wonderful anniversary month, Kerry. I almost feel I could try the mini-challenge Dizain for Open Link Monday, but I'll probably feel differently by morning. I always have high hopes for myself at midnight.

  3. My ears hurt. So if my poem is too crazy, let's blame it on an ear infection.

  11. I finally finished thinking through the challenge Hannah gave us on Friday, so I am putting the result here for the open link. I'll be back later to feast on the poetry of the day.

  13. did i read correctly that we cannot link in at imaginary gardens any more if we are also linking in the same original poem at other sites? i really hope that is not the case... part of what makes the poetry blogosphere work is the sharing, mutual encouragement and camaraderie between poets and sites.

    it's after 2:35am and i can't see straight ~ i will come back Tuesday and, if my poem has been allowed to remain linked in, i will happily and eagerly visit others.

  14. @ myheartslovesongs: All original poems are welcome, but not those which are posted here with the sole purpose of advertising another meme. Those originally linked to sites such as Magpie Tales or dVerse may be shared here by individuals. The problem arises when someone offers a prompt on his or her site, then comes here with the intention of promoting their challenge, complete with links posted in the comment box.
    As you say, the blogosphere does offer opportunity for 'sharing, mutual encouragement and camaraderie between poets and sites' but Real Toads is not offering free advertising space for other sites. Our invitation is extended to the creative writing of individuals as a place to share or promote their writing.
    I hope this stand point is not contrary to your expectations.

  15. i apologize for my reaction to and misunderstanding of what you were saying, Kerry! as always, you and the site more than meet my expectations of a wonderful, supportive, nurturing and exciting site for poets! {and i certainly agree that someone promoting their own prompt on another prompt site is impolite, to say the least!}

    i tend to finish and post/link in poems in the middle of the night ~ i think i should wait until the next day to comment though, don't you? obviously my brain stopped functioning and i just didn't realize it. {smile}

    i sincerely apologize for my comment, Kerry! i hope you will be kind enough to accept.
