Welcome to the Sunday Mini-Challenge. I, Margaret Bednar, am hosting with a little help from my daughter and her fellow classmates. They were given an assignment to create dolls that reflect a part of who they are. They spent close to six weeks hand stitching and creating the backdrops for these gorgeous works of art.
The students are thrilled and excited to have their dolls interpreted into poetry. For this exercise, please feel free to choose more than one image.
I have six other dolls I would love to share with you next month. Let me know in the comments below if this is a challenge you are interested in revisiting.

This is an "old" poem that I wanted to share here. I don't think many of the Toad's saw it. I will also be creating an original poem to another doll or two.
Wow, what a wonderful set of challenge photos (and artworks). These are amazing. I really look forward to writing to at least one of these. How old at these kids?
What a fantastic art project - and the art produced is astounding. These kids are really gifted. Fantastic photos, of wonderfully creative works of art. I love them!
I can't recall ever seeing anything quite like these dolls ~~ amazing work, unique assignment ... so much effort and hard work! Please compliment your daughter and the other girls ... yes, it would be great to do an encore challenge!!!!
By all means, use these dolls in other poems this week or next if you can. I KNOW it is a busy time (for Americans=Thanksgiving) so late is good. Just try and link back here so I can have the students read them.
I will be back on Sunday to read everyone's poems. Off to spend the last evening with all my children gathered in one place. :)

I never read anyone's poems to prompt before writing, so apologies for writing to the same photo as our Fireblossom--especially after Kerry's daunting assessment that no one should! But I got what I got, and that's all that I got, so here it is. ;_)
Forgot to say yes, Margaret, to another challenge along these lines. These dolls are not going to go away in my memory, and I know more can only be great stuff to work with. Again, amazing talent here.
I thank all of you for participating. I know that this is a busy weekend for Americans and encourage late entries. I will be back later this evening to add a few more poems myself. I'm taking my two back to college ;( and might link some up to Open Link Monday.

I remember seeing your daughter's doll on your blog a while back. What an exciting assignment; the outcome is inspiring. Excellent work, all around. Thank you for sharing these. What a fun prompt this must have been.

ReplyDeleteThese were created last year. Juniors and Seniors (high school) attending a visual art program at a University program (they board there)
