Words Count With Mama Zen: Sleepover Edition

As I (try) to type this, I am surrounded by fifth grade girls.  The house is filled with shrieks and giggles.  Music pounds and thumps like my monthly migraine.  And a question echos through the air on an endless loop until it is an itch and burn in my brain . . .

Help!  Please, put me out of my misery.  Take 43 words (or less) and tell me . . . what does the fox say?

  1. I have referenced a Russian folk tale I am particularly partial to: the Fox Confessor. However, I went a "tidge" over the limit. Mine is 59 words, but I couldn't find a way to shorten it without ruining the poem. So, if my entry offends thee, pluck it out.

  2. I feel as though I've been waiting for this prompt--though not the 43-word version. (Where do these numbers come from?) I looked to Aesop's "The Fox and the Crow" and late night humor. Enjoy. I did.

  4. My poem started at 55 words (nearly gave it to G-Man instead) but I took out my pruning shears. Don't know if it is a successful as the unedited version but screw it - it's 'a pome'.

  14. MZ - I found this very intriguing and have been working on a poem that I haven't had time to finish - and it may end up over the word count so will possibly try for 55 (or not.) Anyway, it is all an interesting idea --and I hope the sleepover got over well. K. Manicddaily
