Words Count With Mama Zen

I recently attended Formed in Stone: The Natural Beauty of Fossils, an exhibit featuring macro digital photographs of some of the earth's earliest life. So what do you get when you take the remains of small, 450 million year old life forms and magnify them up to sixty times? Unexpected complexity and beauty.

Today's prompt is pretty much wide open.  Let the pictures inspire you; use them if you like.  Explore the idea of complexity writ small. Or, just write me a tutorial on how to take better quality iPhone pictures (are you reading, Margaret?).  Go any direction you like . . . just keep it to 60 words or less.

  1. This provided just the nudge I needed to put my mind to some form of poetry. Thanks, MZ.

I hope it is okay to use one of these photos on my blog. I'm not sure to whom it should be attributed.

You need no lessons from me. ha ha These past few days have been with kids at pool, barn, and shopping (poor me :) and we watched the 25th celebration of "The Phantom of the Opera" at an opera house in London - Andrew Lloyd Weber and the original cast make an appearance at the end (Netflix - watch now - I highly recommend it) So was up LATE last night… I will do this prompt even if it is posted late.

  17. Hi MZ, Kerry and all, I've been terribly busy of late and just haven't even been able to contemplate doing much for myself other than some pursuit of endorphins through exercise, but the prompt has been sitting with me so finally got something up. Thanks so much, MZ--the word count made me cut the original poem considerably much to its improvement, I think. k.
