Go Grimm

I grew up with Grimm Fairy tales. Don't worry we aren't penning a new fairy tale, but it got me thinking about how many of these enchanted stories lead us to a witch's spell,  three wishes or some kind of magical mystery.  We are familiar with Little Red Riding Hood, The Fisherman and His Wife and The Emperor's New Suit.  I want our poems to have a wishful quality, if you want to add a demented creature, or wicked witch, or other darkness-this depends on you.   I want you to include one of the four wishes-I have listed below.

When I think of my children, I hope I instilled  these qualities, as I still wish for them to have more courage and joy.  The other two are covered, so far.

Four Wishes:  Integrity, Compassion, Courage and Joy.

Now, go frolic in your word forest, beware of trolls, magic moss and poisonous mushrooms.  Please  follow the popcorn trail-I have left for you.  If one of the recent Disney films inspires you or the enchanted television shows-by all means go there~

  1. Where this prompt took me caught me completely off guard, and even though I deviated a little from my fairy tale intention, I hope that what I achieved is enough to forgive me not being completely on prompt. Thank you so very, very much for inspiring me!

  2. Yes, I made a mistake. Bjorn caught it-thanks again! Hans Christen Anderson wrote 'The Emperor's New Clothes'. I almost included both authors. I am open to any fairy tale adaption you would like to attempt. Thanks, Bjorn~

    Happy Friday, Toads!

  7. Cool, Ella, will see what I can shake loose up in the attic, LOL. There is likely to be a witch or, at least, a goblin.

  12. I'm grim indeed today, not in the magickal sense - but it's a poem I've been needing, for a long time, to write.

  15. Ella--my poem is very grim, I'm afraid. I'm not sure I should even link it--I have recently reread an original version of all the tales, and of course, the originals are rather bloody and Northern European. So I went with that. I don't think it was what you were aiming for, however, and am happy to unlink. (Or you should if you feel it deviates too much from your intention.) k.
