The Legacies of Nimoy & Pratchett

The first quarter of 2015 has seen the passing of two enormously influential men - both have contributed to the world's trove of stories in their unique ways, and have left behind a legacy of wisdom.

Leonard Nimoy, who immortalized the character Mr Spock in the Star Trek series, died on 27 February at the age of 83.

Sir Terry Pratchett, best selling author of the Disc World series (among more than 70 books published), died on 28 April aged 66.

    This ought to be fun, Terry. Fun but a hard assignment.
    I have on request at our library Prachett's last published book, "THE LONG UTOPIA: A NOVEL." You told me that I would like a couple of other suggestions more but since this was his last I still am going for it.

    Sorry for manhandling this a little.. I had the poem and managed to find a quite that fitted.. :-). I only have 10 sonnets to go now.

    I'm a big fan of Nimoy, not as familiar with Pratchett, but in the end it was Pratchett whose quote sparked my poem.

    Hey Kerry! You may know (since I say it often) that Pratchett is just about my favorite writer. I've probably read forty books of his many more than forty times. I wrote a not very good poem when I first noticed this prompt, then--my house is being painted--lost that notebook--then found it--it was truly not very good!--so think I've come up with something else. But I was struck looking at the quotes how many great ones there are. He tended to recycle a bit, which makes sense given how many books he wrote--so some of the best ones have been repeated but they are well worth it. I also wanted to say I got a draft of the prompt for tomorrow up; I'll be adding pictures but the basic prompt is there. k.

    I am really struggling right now with the April process--my ability to assimilate is suffering--never read Pratchett, and not very into Nimoy either, but I will read some quotes and see where it leads and get back if I can--thanks for the challenge, Kerry, even if I can't find the words.

    combined this with Magaly's prompt. I hadn't read much of Pratchett, so this was cool. but I threw away "the tribble with" because, well... ~

    Hey Kerry--I so love Pratchett and wrote a more serious poem than the one I ended up posting, but just had a bit too much going on, so went with something more silly. Agh. Onwards and upwards. k.
