Greetings to all poets and friends! It is time for this month's Flash 55 Challenge. The rules of this prompt are simple: Write a piece of poetry or prose on a subject of your choice in precisely 55 WORDS.

PLUS!
For the optional extra part of this challenge, I invite you to include the word EXTREME/ EXTREMES in your title or the body of your work. The following site showcases 10 "Extreme" themed quotes, which may provide some food for thought: www.ranker.com
Here I am again!
ReplyDeleteThe 3 schedules of Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, somehow all had my name up for this week. This has not allowed for our usual variety of hosts, I'm afraid.
Kerry, I love your prompts so I'm not complaining. ;)
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the song... im a huge 80's music fan! hello, first time here , blog hopping by =)
ReplyDeleteI love Billy Joel, and extremes have been visiting me lately! maybe I can come up with something.
ReplyDeleteI love Billy Joel, but took my direction more from the quotes you linked us too :-)
ReplyDeleteKerry==your prompts are always terrific. I am struggling between knee issues and trying to do something about a children's novel (and job), and it's left me rather low and unposty, I'm afraid, though I've been doing some paintings (without elephants), so that's been a kind of bright spot. Will see. k.
ReplyDeleteA happy Saturday to you Kerry, thanks for a busy week of prompts
ReplyDeletereally enjoyed the challenge
much love...
Oh Extremes... somehow i think that what extremes is like a noose that tightens... like being stuck on a ledge somewhere... Thank you for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy writing within limits like this. Thanks for the challenge.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your challenges, Kerry! I scrolled through most of the 50 the other day just for memory sake...you've really had some wonderful ones!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
It just happened that I read a very extreme story soon after seeing your prompt. The word limit was good, as I think sometimes such events are best written of with restraint; they do not need highly coloured language, having their own intrinsic drama beyond any we could add.
ReplyDeletePS I didn't look at the quotes until after I'd written and posted – but how perfect the one I belatedly chose!
ReplyDeleteThat's fine with this visitor, Kerry. Hard on you as you also have your job. Anyway, I like the fun 55 flash writing.
ReplyDeleteI am not a Billy Joel fan, don't really know a lot of his songs. Guess I was in another world when he was popular. Or they weren't played on my rock stations.
..
well, I doubled up with the 50 prompt. 55 is the new 50, I guess... ~

ReplyDeleteTrying again without the medication induced typos! (Not that I need medication for typos!)Thanks Kerry for the challenges, especially this one, which, after reading Shay's and yours, actually inspired me to write something for the first time in a month. Sorry to be so absent fellow toads.
ReplyDeleteKarin, I tried to leave a comment, but your page froze then disappeared. I will attempt to fill in my thoughts a little later.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your work this week Kerry. I always love a 55!
ReplyDeleteI'm having problems with many Google sites accepting my wordpress blog. I have an inactive blogger account and I suppose it's punishing me for abandoning it. So, if I comment with it, it's because it won't let me do anything else. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteTook yesterday's dinner conversation with my brother nearly verbatim for this one:) We get extreme when we're hungry, tired, thirsty, and celebrating another year of living...right??
ReplyDeleteYou always have fantastic challenges for us. Thanks for all you do!
ReplyDeleteComing in late, I haven't done a 55-word challenge in awhile. I always have trouble deciding what is 55 words so I wrote the poem without a title and it's exactly 55 words that way. Extreme was a good prompt it made me come up with something really different. Thanks for taking the time to put up these prompts for us, Kerry, I appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteGot a question. Why don't we ever do an image prompt? I'm not complaining but once an awhile an image prompt might be fun.
Take care Toads! Hugs!
