"Every dance is a kind of fever chart, a graph of the heart". Martha Graham
I actually love to dance. I feel a sense of freedom, joy, courage when I lose myself in movement to a favorite song. It is not about whether I'm good or bad at it. It is about letting go and celebrating who I am without my thoughts pulsing with negativity.
"There is a bit of insanity in dancing that does everybody a
great deal of good." - Edwin Denby
I enjoy watching dancers translate lyrics or story telling through their bodies. For instance Sia's videos are infused with dance. It may look like odd choreography, but no one can doubt the passion in the performance.
And I won't let you get me down
I'll keep gettin' up when I hit the ground
Oh, never give up, no, never give up no, no, oh
I won't let you get me down
I'll keep gettin' up when I hit the ground
Oh, never give up, no, never give up no, no, oh
I'll keep gettin' up when I hit the ground
Oh, never give up, no, never give up no, no, oh
I won't let you get me down
I'll keep gettin' up when I hit the ground
Oh, never give up, no, never give up no, no, oh

"Dancing is silent poetry." – Simonides
Today's challenge is to express dance through poetry. Pick a photo, a quote, video...Pick whatever inspires you. Write a new poem...Post it on Mr. Linky and visit your fellow poets to read their poetic choreography.

I used to love dancing when I was younger but kind of lost my rhythm after a stroke thirty years ago. This prompt has reminded me of what it was like!
Where is Leo Sayer when you need him? ;-)
got my feet tapping with this upbeat theme - and dashing of to an art exhibition but back later to hear from other dancers
A wonderful challenge, Susie. Just reading the post made me feel uplifted after a tiring day.
Great prompt...my muse was agitated.
Love this prompt Susie! :-)
I still love to dance, but have done it less in recent years... Fifteen years ago I used to do dance aerobic every week, and I actually enjoyed practicing all the complicated movements.
@Kim I can't dance like I used to either, but even a good foot tapping fuels the spirit.
@Fireblossom Yes, where is he? Now I can' get that song out of my head. lol
@Laura I'll be dancing over to your page soon.
@Kerry Happy the challenge offered a little lift to your spirits.
@Paul I hope your muse wasn't too agitated.
@Carrie Thanks
@ Bjorn I took Jazz dancing for awhile. It was fun... even attempting and not quite achieving the choreography
Im back......I decided the prompt deserved a more light hearted post than what my first one gave...so here is another....I hope that is okay. :-)
One would expect me, a dancer, to have submitted a poem. But I did read.
It's perfectly ok... Happy it inspired another poem.
That's fine.. We have awesome poetry in the garden.
I am away from my home and keyboard and HOPE i managed to link correctly. Thanks for the prompt, Susie.
Thanks for the inspiration - an example a poem that would never have been.
@Sherry The link worked perfectly!
@Margaret I am so glad you wrote for the prompt!
Posting late, maybe even last. Have a nice Saturday
Much love...
Susie, it just so happened that the First Friday of back-to-school week allowed for a little dance party in our kitchen:) Fun prompt.
