It was October again... a glorious October, all red and
gold, with mellow mornings when the valleys were filled with delicate mists as
if the spirit of autumn had poured them in for the sun to drain — amethyst,
pearl, silver, rose, and smoke-blue. The dews were so heavy that the fields
glistened like cloth of silver and there were such heaps of rustling leaves in
the hollows of many-stemmed woods to run crisply through. ~ Lucy Maud

October is my favorite time of the year as Autumn takes us away from the externally-focused energies of
exuberant summertime and asks us to pause and consider how we feel, who we
are, and to reminisce. We revisit the
past during this time to integrate, grieve, reflect, and heal.

For today's challenge, I want you all to draw inspiration from the YouTube playlist above. Pick a song that speaks to you poetically and write a poem.
You could be inspired by the title, the lyrics or just the emotions that the song evokes. Please do mention your choice somewhere in your post and remember to give credit.
Choose your own form or write in free verse, if preferred. I look forward to reading what you guys come up with. Please do visit others and remember to comment on their poems. Have fun!🍁

I'm writing fast this morning, Sanaa, as there will be a planned power cut in just over an hour and I will be leaving as soon as the electricity goes off. I was drawn to Coldplay's 'Hymn for the Weekend' because of the floods we had over the weekend, and the whole idea of life being a drink and love a drug led to October being a banquet. I'll be back to read and comment when I return and the power's back on!
ReplyDelete@Kim; Hopefully the power will be back soon! Thank you so much for writing to the prompt, Kim! 💖 Heading over to read you 😊☕️
ReplyDeleteHi ho. The drawing inspired my poem this morning, but one of the song titles can also be credited. Smiles.
ReplyDelete@Sherry; I am so glad you were inspired 😊 heading over to read you 💖☕️
ReplyDeleteI will really try to write for this... some songs are those that I remember listening to.
ReplyDelete@Bjorn; Yayy!😊 I look forward to it. Thank you so much!💖☕️
ReplyDeleteI love that Aerosmith song. <3
ReplyDeleteI will always remember the classic "Somewher Over The Rainbow" but not until just now. Even though the words of "Somewhere I Belong" were hopeful I DID NOT FEEL HOPEFUL as i wrote. Nor did my fingers on down here on the keys.
ReplyDeleteIn fact if it were paper that I'd been writing on there would be teardrops sprinkled all over that page. Bye
..
Thank you, Sanaa, for this wonderful October start. It's my second write, the first was in a happy setting.
