I love this song, and this girl, Grace VanderWaal, so much. She is strong enough, at her young age, to be herself, and loving enough to send her message out to other sensitive and hurting hearts.
"You are beautiful just the way you are.
You don't have to change a thing,
the world could change its heart."
As it is April, and we are pacing ourselves for the long haul, your prompt is to simply write a poem sharing whatever words and feelings this song and/or video inspires in you.

Very nice prompt. I stretched a bit as I started with NaPoWriMo's Day 4 prompt. They start an hour earlier.
Thank you for sharing this lovely video, Sherry!
Good morning, poet friends. Here, it is three a.m. and I am wakeful. Looking forward to your responses to Grace and her song. We're all beautiful, just the way we are. Smiles. May all hurting people come to know this.
Poetry begets poetry.... Something started happening in my head before the prompt was posted, so I wrote it and hoped it would fit. Nor without a lot more writing, ha ha.
*not without
What a stunning rendition of this song. I hadn't heard this version; just gorgeous. Thank you!
She has a very distinctive voice.
Thank you for a most inspiring prompt, Sherry. As one who bears scars, I feel this topic.
So glad you enjoyed Grace's song, about the scars we all carry, that help us shine. I love seeing young people who already know what it took me so long to understand. I am loving all your responses. Thank you for making my day beautiful with your words.
We all bear scars, internal and external. I learned to live with mine a long time ago. LOL, my poetry comes from most of my scars. Thank you for this prompt Sherry.
I had no knowledge of this singer but I'm already in love with her voice. Thank you muchly.
Hppy Thursday All! Sherry- thank you for the wonderful video- I had not heard of her before. Working on something now!
There is a better video of her performing this on America's Got Talent (I think) - I didnt use it as it had ads on it, but she really performed it well. She is so talented, an original. I love that about her.
hmm. I have a hard time with her voice and her breathing and diction. Folk music is where I can see her in my minds eye as they often don't have distinctive voices - if not pretty. Of course, her message is amazing... But I'm glad everyone else enjoyed her. Yes, she is original but her voice makes me wince. (sorry, Sherry) BUT thanks for the prompt.
they often DO have distinctive voices (should read)
I have a bit of trouble with all singers' and actors' diction, now that i am so deaf......lol.......thanks for stopping by, Margaret.
I have April 1 & 2 to still finish visiting and I will be back to visit tomorrow for this prompt. My daughter is in her High School Musical this weekend (Newsies) and I've been swamped with my son's schoolwork as well... It's almost the weekend and I will be sure to catch up by then. I am not one who usually posts and dashes.... Thanks for the prompt, Sherry.
It will be wonderful watching your daughter on-stage. You have such talented children. It is lovely to see you any time, Margaret, no worries. Have a great weekend!
Dear "S", why am I not allowed to see your blog?
I went with my initial thought on this one, this girl is too young for the song and the experiences she seeks. We've all been there and we've all typically wished we hadn't rushed things in hindsight.
Yes, girls are in too big a hurry to grow up.....rushing towards pain. I agree. Yes, I wondered about S's blog, too. Cant get in. Smiles. That may be why you arent getting comments?
