January resolutions may be fading, but it is still the month of new beginnings. Coincidentally, today is my husband's birthday. So over at our house we'll enjoy the cake of choice from his boyhood --yellow cake with peanut butter icing and a grape jelly filling. A glass of milk is required to wash it down. Yum!
For today's prompt I'll provide the word list ingredients for your poem referring to either new beginnings or a birthday (happy or sad or in-between). I'm not looking for an ingredient poem about baking a cake! I'll be full-up on dessert anyway. I want to feast on the words you insert into your new creation on newness itself, or on a special celebration you are looking forward to, or a milestone memory you recall about a loved one.
Mudslide, landslide, red velvet, carrot.... there are so many ways to mix goodness into your poem. Choose all four words from ONE of these word lists to build your new poem:
solace trace pause over
inwardness sweat reflect beginning
need forgiveness unfolding back
thanks weight years ahead
I look forward to reading and savouring your respective slices of life. Also enjoy this musical inspiration from Stevie Nicks.
Loved the prompt, Angie!💞 I chose to write on new beginnings, will be back shortly to read and comment. Happy Thursday, everyone!💞
Great prompt, Angie! Mine too, is on new beginnings. Best thing foreally a new year!
Happy Birthday to your husband Angie. Thanks for another interesting prompt today. I looked back to celebrating carnivals past and reflection.
I wrote something true, for once. I blame you, Angie. ;)
I used the whole list. Sorry if that counts me out.
I love word lists! Thanks for spreading the joy, Angie.
In between baking the cake, icing the cake, spreading jelly like nobody's fool over the middle section...I'm really enjoying your poetic creations. Wondering if no one will jump on my Peanut Butter band wagon? Happy January AND writing to you all. Thank you for your time and effort.
Peanut butter cake is my husband's favorite too ... never heard of the jelly though.
Thanks for the bonus of Stevie Nicks!

Oops and I misunderstood the words to select a bit... but it was fun anyway.
When I looked at this post on my phone, the lists were all mashed up so my poem is all over the place!
