Open Link Monday

Calling All Toads ...

A warm welcome to all on Open Link Monday.  The month of July is a very special one for The Imaginary Garden with Real Toads, because it marks the first anniversary of the Real Toads writing project.   This site began with a closed membership, at the initiation of Robb Lloyd but in July 2011, he allowed me to take it over and open readership, encouraging other Followers to join while maintaining a closed membership of 25 committed poet-bloggers.  Membership has remained fluid, but each member has made a valuable contribution to the project as a whole and helped us to find our feet in the world of communal blogging.

In celebration of this occasion, we are launching our "Toads in Tandem" July Blockbuster.  Several of our members have undertaken to write poems in collaboration, which will be featured throughout the month, so please make a point of visiting us on Tuesdays and Thursdays  to enjoy the end products of several weeks' work behind the scenes.

And thus on to the Open Link...
The invitation is here for you to share your original pieces, with no restrictions attached save that it be individual work and that you spend a little time reading and responding to the work of others who share this space with you.

Good morning...I think. Idiots with fireworks kept me awake last night. God I hate the 4th of July. (what a misnomer...the boom booms started three weeks ago) But I am really proud of the poem I have up. It was knocking at the door all weekend, but every time I opened the door, it had run and hid. Finally, late Sunday, it let me write it.

Happy Monday, all and Happy Anniversary to the most imaginative of imaginary gardens. I really appreciate being part of it. Can't wait to see what the collaborations will be. I've got a wild day ahead but will be back this evening to read.

A simple little piece for today on my other blog "This Country Life." Found a few shagbark hickory nuts on one of our trails this morning and worked from there!

Happy Anniversary! I'm hoping all my issues with Google are behind me and I can participate like a normal blogger for a change :)

Happy Blogiversary to the Toads! Why do people insist on setting off fireworks DAYS before the 4th of July?!!! It just frightens the dogs. Anyway, it's a pleasure and a privilege being a part of the knot!(a group of toads for those whose animal collective vocab needs refreshing!)

Hi Kerry - your picture of toads in tandem is almost scarey. I've seen a lot more newts in tandem than toads. Some people will have seen my poem, but, well, it's very hot! And monday! k.

I wrote "Pushed" for a dVerse prompt 10 hours after the Linking devise had closed, so here you have it--an epic poem that I like a lot. I will visit irregularly as long as I am with my folks. This is pleasant but I miss my hermitage a lot. And my folks just informed me that they are staying until Monday! Talk about buttons. And --no, they are really very sweet. I'm just totally a loner!

I LOVE that photo... I can't help but sing "Slow dancin', swayin to the music..." Ha ha, anyone remember that song?

I am trying to catch up with last week's challenges and will try and get in Marian's "Look at what's goin' down" next. :)

It is midnight here, so if I don't get to everyone on this list tonight, I will swing around in the morning with my coffee. :)
