Greetings Garden Dwellers!
Welcome back to Out of Standard, where I will set before you a challenge to defy the conventions of a particular theme. I will call upon you to write out of the standard and find new places in the everyday. It is in that spirit in which I present May’s challenge...
BEST PARTY OF ONE... EVER
Todays prompt involves connecting the physical to the page, and I am not kidding when I say you will be required to boogie woogie (or maybe just twist the night away).
Your challenge: blast your favorite dancing song and allow yourself to jam out. It’s okay, no one is (probably) watching. Shake your groove thing, flail about, raise your hands....move. When the song is over, write out the first thoughts that come to your mind and use them in a poem. Let’s see what phrases the dance sets free!
KEEP IN MIND
Like every challenge, your poem must by newly written for this challenge and not one which you have previously written which conveniently fits the theme.
So go now, my muddy buddies, and bring us back something shiny and new.

Hi Izy! Thanks for another prompt to take us out of of our comfort zones.
I'm afraid this one would take me out of my comfort zone and into a hospital zone. ;_)
I will find a secluded area... plug in my headphones and dance away... Believe it or not, a few years ago I did dance-aerobic.. :-)
Oh my ~ no one has seen my 'happy dance.' Perhaps it's time?
I'd be there on the ward next to Hedge!
There's a rippin' thunderstorm so I'll shut down and comment later!! Thank you, Izzy!
Hello everyone :D
Okay so I literally danced my butt off and came up with this..! Hope I got it right :D
Lots of love,
Sanaa
Hedge and Shay, can we all share an ambulance?
Heck, I lay down and just thought about dancing, avoiding the ambulance altogether. I'd prefer to be outside dancing in Mama Zen's starlight! Listened to two songs, and it won't be hard to figure out just what ....
Love what we have posted so far. I've posted mine, though dare I say my dancing was better than the poem (and my dancing ain't that great).
these comments have tickled me!
i really wanted to write about a cute, angsty girl playing guitar in a quiet corner of the cafe...
but i stayed with the prompt...danced and lived to write about it! :)
Ha.. had to search way back in my memory for this one.. not my usual style..
I needed...or at least benefited from this very much.
alright alright alright :)
That was fun! And a bit confronting. :)
Whoo hoo! Groovin'
