What do you see when you look in someone's eyes? There are many things to be seen in eyes. Sometimes joy, pain, love, hate, acceptance, sadness, anger, mischief, innocence, evil or even blankness.
As an added twist, try to keep your poem to 75 words or less.
Thank you all for the opportunity to participate in the Pond. This will be my last prompt for now as I find my life is amazingly full these days. I will continue to come by the Pond as I can and check out what you are all writing.

Since it is getting close to the Christmas holidays for many people I will make this a simple prompt:
Write about a memory you have of something special about this or any holiday season. (depending on where you live and what you celebrate!)
Perhaps you had riotous family gatherings, or spent a holiday alone. Maybe there was a big snow storm and you were snowed in. Or in some parts of the world perhaps there was a heat wave and you all sweated in bathing suits. Maybe it was a year you gave a special gift or received one. Perhaps you celebrated in some exotic place.
You can describe this memory from your own point of view or, if you want more of a challenge, write from the point of view of someone else or even something else. Or be creative and take several points of view. After writing or thinking about your own memory, think what it might have looked like from the point of view of your parents or your jealous sister or your dog or a visitor.
Whatever you decide to write about please post it on your blog and link it below with Mr. Linky.
I also want to wish all you Toads and visitors out there who celebrate a happy holiday season. And may the new year bring a flood of writing for you!

Greetings fellow Toads. Peggy in Southern California here. This time I have a very toady prompt for us all. And I hope to see many of you giving it a try.
Point of view and place are both important elements of poetry and story telling. This time take the point of view of an animal -- lets stretch a bit and make it NOT a dog or a cat. You can even choose an imaginary or mythical animal.
Take this animal to a place you are not in every day. It can be a real place or an imaginary place at any time past, present or future. Tell us about this place through the eyes, ears, nose, skin (or whatever) of your animal.
There is a lot of this in children's literature, if you want inspiration. You can even take and animal from Dr. Seuss to a place of your choosing.
So choose an animal, take it someplace--and write!

For some reason the book title “The Things They Carried" (by Tim O'Brien) hopped into my mind when I was thinking about the challenge for Toads.
We all carry many things: with our arms, our bodies, or with
our minds.
Though the heavy things people physically carry might seem like the
most difficult task, sometimes it is those things carried in the mind that are
most challenging. It is also a different
kind of challenge to carry something very delicate or to carry something
secretly. And then there are the things
animals carry.
This old saddle in Arizona carried someone on a horse, the words carry
a message.
All sorts of ways to think about things carried. So that is the prompt for today: Write
about things carried.

Many ways to carry things
What stories and memories might these men carry?

Hi Toads. Peggy in Southern California here. One of the good things about a poetry site like Imaginary Gardens with Real Toads is the great variety of poetry. So many
perspectives from so many different places and lives. All starting with a single prompt idea.
This time my prompt is to write about: fish.
Maybe you have had pet fish, or maybe you just like to eat
fish. Or maybe you like to take your pole and fish in a lake or even the
ocean. And of course people can swim like fish and there are those who
fish for compliments.

I will feature my own photos in this column and you are welcome to copy them into your own blogs as you use them for poetic inspiration. Please include the copyright information.
We can see fortune and misfortune in a face, circumstance and genetics as well.
This week take a look at these faces. Think about who they might belong to and what they might be thinking or what they may have experienced or felt. Don't worry about who they might really be or where they are from. Just use your eyes and your imagination and write on!
