What happened when I wrote this poem was... after about two weeks of writing nothing, and deciding to stay away from (my own and other) prompts, I found a most beautiful poem while reading, rather than writing. (The link is under my poem). I really wanted to write something which sprang from internal inspiration, and the words of this poem resonated with me in the week my daughter turned 18. So I wrote something in the same style. Shortly after posting it, I realized that dVerse had a post encouraging writers to write in the style of... So as hard as I tried I couldn't escape the meme. Some kind people have already commented, but I link it here today, because I have nothing else that's new. Long story.. thanks for entertaining me :)

I wrote this poem a couple of years ago. It's based on a real person, a former neighbor and mother of an old friend. I'd been looking for a reason to use it. Thanks for the opportunity!

I wrote my poem in 2009 when I was just beginning my poetic journey. I was traveling to Missouri to see family and listening to the tires on the pavement...it was the inspiration for my poem. Thank you as always for your inspiration to write and a place to share.

Whew! Made it. Hard to believe I write even slower than I walk (not grammatically correct, but you get the picture).
