A Word with Laurie

For the past two weeks, I’ve been battling tooth pain. It all began when I had to get a crown to replace an old one. After they put the temporary on, my tooth got infected... which led to a root canal yesterday.

The pain has been excruciating. In fact, I could even say it’s been phantasmagoric… and that, my friends, is our word for the day.

Phantasmagoric

(Century Dictionary and Cyclopedia) 1. Pertaining or relating to a phantasmagoria; of the nature of phantasmagoria; illusive; unreal.

(Wiktionary) 1. adj. Characterized by or pertaining to rapid changes in light intensity and colour. 2. adj. Characterized by or pertaining to a dream-like blurring of real and imaginary elements.

(WordNet 3.0) 1. adj. characterized by fantastic imagery and incongruous juxtapositions

*Definitions from Wordnix*

So write a phantasmagoric poem and post it to Mr. Linky. You know the drill.

Today is the last A Word with Laurie here at Imaginary Gardens with Real Toads. I want to thank you for sharing your poems with me for the past year and a half.

Yikes, that pain must have been awful, Laurie. And, yikes, what a word as well. Smiles.

Anyone with tooth pain has my genuine sympathy, as I have been there, as have so may of us. I hope this will be the end of the dental issues for you, Laurie. Great word for us to work with today.

So sorry you've been suffering! But if that's what it took to come up with such a word, well... How can you complain? LOL Thanks for the inspiration for a bit of madness on my part. :)

Sorry for the pain, happy for the word which allows me to tell the story of a name . . .

Oh, Laurie, I hope the pain doesn't last. The trouble with tooth pain is it's all in our heads, where we live. Interferes with the creative process.
Didn't interfere with your ability to think of Toadly words, however.
I'm wishing you well and pain-free, while wishing I had more imagination in order to do justice to today's challenge.

Kay, your link is to Izy's Out Of Standard, not to this challenge. I know you did this challenge, so as soon as you post the correct link, I'll delete the other one.

Thank you, Laurie!! Great word...I played with the feelings that the synonyms brought for me!! Hmm just occurred to me...are we required to use the actual word? I didn't. Any way...happy weekend peeps!

FB — Thanks, if you can delete the incorrect link, I'd appreciate it, because I tried Mister Linky's removal tool and it didn't take #6 away. That's why #9 says Kay, correct link.
Luv, K

Laurie, I came up with a poem for your difficult word. I have enjoyed your words, as they often caused me to write something that otherwise would not have been written. Thank you!

Feel better soon, Laurie. What an interesting word for the challenge. Yoiks. I shall toss it into the upper chambers and see what pops forth. Thank you, Laurie, for all of your great prompts at Real Toads.

I could have written about tooth pain all day...hope your feeling much better and are pain free by the time you read this, Laurie.

Am not sure if I met the meaning of the word, but did give it a try. I love words, unusual words,... I had a difficult time grasping the meaning of the prompt word (won't try to spell it here).

If anyone gets through to Daydreamer, please tell her that she probably has comments in spam, as I wrote a post on her WP blog and it never appeared so I know it is in spam; and there is NO way I can contact her. I don't know why some WP blogs are that way.

Hi Laurie! Sorry about your tooth pain. Two long weeks is two weeks too long for toothache :(

Of course, you managed to transfer some of your pain to us by giving us this possimpible word (a Barney reference from How I Met Your Mother) :D

I absolutely enjoyed writing this poem. Hope you guys like reading it just as much!

Get well soon Laurie :)
