One must make a distinction however: when dragged into prominence by half poets, the result is not poetry, nor till the autocrats among us can be “literalists of the imagination”—above insolence and triviality and can present for inspection, imaginary gardens with real toads in them, shall we have it.

Open Link Monday

Welcome to the Imaginary Garden ...

Greetings to all our friends and visitors to Real Toads. Today, I would like to share news of an email I received from Dr Hisashi Nakamura, whose poetry was referenced in a form challenge on Tanka poetry by Grace O'Malley, back in March 2012. A Frog in his Fresh Waters
Dr Nakamura was searching for tanka related websites when he happened upon Real Toads, and he was sincerely thankful to see that one of his poems was featured, as well as his definition of 'yugen'. He has also extended the invitation to any follower of Real Toads who would like to discuss tanka with him.  It is a real privilege to receive such generous feedback. Thank you, Dr Nakamura.

Our Open Link forum is available as always for poets to share their poetry, read the work of others, offer sound commentary and show support for their fellow writers. I hope that everyone will consider their time well spent in the garden.

Hi Kerry of the flowers and Toads! My poem today is one that doesn't seem poetic except for its tight structure--but I keep working it because of its core riddle about the stories we tell. I think the answer is that each of us is ... AH, answered riddles are no fun.

How wonderful that you got such a positive e-mail from Dr. Nakamura. A gentleman and a scholar, to be sure.

Lyrics from one of my songs that gets good response of which I am thinking of making my first HD home video.

I put an early version for free on last fm and was very surprised to see it with a following from Japan...
