One must make a distinction however: when dragged into prominence by half poets, the result is not poetry, nor till the autocrats among us can be “literalists of the imagination”—above insolence and triviality and can present for inspection, imaginary gardens with real toads in them, shall we have it.

Tuesday Platform

Hello poets and poetry lovers! Last month has been a whirlwind of activity for me and my family. We took a nice long vacation to Maine, possibly the last vacation we'll have together as a family for a while. That's because the eldest starts college in the fall. All that traveling meant a lot of family time in the car. Fortunately my daughter was prepared for the challenge. She started off each trip leading the family in a sing along of I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) by the Proclaimers, and sharing her latest musical obsession, the soundtrack to The Greatest Showman.

There's going to be quite a bit more traveling back and forth in my family's future, but I am happy to report that after examining what my schedule might look like in the fall I will have time to continue on with the Toads.

So do you have any joyous discoveries you've made so far this summer? Feel free to write about that, or whatever else hits your fancy (new or old is fine). Don't forget to see what your fellow poets have created this week. If you like something, don't keep it to yourself. Conversation and constructive feedback in the comments section is always welcome.

I'm glad to hear you're carrying on Rommy! Your daughter sounds like quite the entertainer!
I'll check back in to see what's been going on.
At work now...first patient about to walk in. Much rather be writing poetry than extracting teeth (sigh!)

I see I missed a film best watched at the theatre. What a wondrous song.

Today is one of those days I'm making time to read the poems. Thanks to all you who posts. Cheers.

My kids have been playing that movie on repeat the past couple of days. I still haven't seen the ending.

That Proclaimers song is excellent. I've linked to an old post.

I know the Proclaimers' song well but I've never come across that film before, so thank you, Rommy, for introducing me to it. I'll be looking it up later! Enjoy your vacation!

@Ann - I missed it in the theater too (one of my best friends kept trying to get me to see it but we never managed to make it), but I've enjoyed it home too.

@Magaly - That whole soundtrack is so much fun, but that song is especially glorious.

@Pat - glad you could play along

@🎵 - Ha! My kids have done that to me loads of times too. But I did see the ending of that one.

@Sherry - *hugs* Thank you for the encouragement

@Shay - I'm Gonna Be is a really fun song to kick off long car rides to.

@Kim - The Greatest Showman has a lot of great music in it. I kind of love belting out some of the songs.

@Bjorn - I hope it was a peaceful one. I know I really appreciated the quiet down time I had on my recent vacation.

Am happy to hear you visited Maine this glorious summer.
You didn't say which parts you visited and hope you made
it at least as far as Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

Rommy said...

@Susie - It's a great song, hard to forget once you hear it

@Siggi - Deer Isle Maine was were we were. It's fairly remote. Acadia isn't too far from there. :)

I somehow entered an old post as #20 for this prompt :(
Now it is there and I don't know how to correct it.
.
#21 post is my response to the prompt.
.
Then I added to the confusion posting this comment in the wrong spot.
SIGH
.
I was so excited to try and get back in the groove of posting I made
a confusing mess. :(
.
Sorry for the confusion
