Toads (and other word-loving creatures with deliciously charming smiles).
Today, I invite you to play with homographs, or words which share the same
spelling but have rather different meanings. Yes, I’m referring to words like gay and just and park and “Engage thrusters, Mr. Zulu.” Sorry, my Star Trek reruns binging is starting to show *cough*.
For this weekend mini-challenge,
write a new poem that includes one homograph (or more), and (1) use at least two of the homograph’s
meanings in your poem (as in “her lips were too close to my mouth for me
to close
the door in her face without knocking out my teeth”); or (2) use the homograph in your poem in a way which allows two of its
meanings to apply (as in “I wish to be close enough to her to kiss her lips
without violating her sensibilities or the laws of physics”).

I had some fun with this prompt, Magaly! Thank you! My 86-tear-old father-in-law is very poorly and my husband has been to visit him in hospital for the third time this week. his sister and her husband have come up from London and we are having dinner with them this evening, so I've linked up quickly and will be back in the morning to read and comment.

Homographics unlimited tonight!!! 'Fun, fun, fun, when Daddy took the dictionary away.' Fun - Enjoyment OR to make light of, i.e. to "belittle". Arguably Homographic? I enjoyed this writing exercise for Magaly, guru of words, and all, though perhaps some of the words I used were not Homographic.

It's definitely raining steadily here, but the rest of my scenario is imagined. I stumbled across the Monchielle form at Poetic Bloomings just before coming here, and the two combined ... successfully, I hope.

According to the web, the actual announcement is one meaning. And the other is the book where the names of the departed is kept, especially in monasteries.
