April Come She Will

Toads and Friends, welcome to April and High Poetry Shenanigans!

April, come she will
When streams are ripe and swelled with rain
May, she will stay
Resting in my arms again

June, she’ll change her tune
In restless walks, she’ll prowl the night
July, she will fly
And give no warning of her flight

August, die she must
The autumn winds blow chilly and cold
September, I’ll remember
A love once new has now grown old

What could be more inspiring than this? We are kicking off April easy and beautifully, friends. Write a poem about love! Or about the seasons changing, love affairs growing old, streams swelled with rain, memories of Simon and Garfunkel in Central Park, or anything else that comes up for you while watching and listening to this perfect, perfect song. Enjoy!

Yippee!!! The mad month of April has come around again. Thanks for kicking us off in style, Marian, with this beautiful song.
Today is, most unfortuitously, the last day of my vacation so 30 poems in 30 days is going to be a greater challenge for me than ever before... But I shall give it my best shot.

Good luck to everyone! I am looking forward to the days ahead.

White rabbits! Pinch, punch, first day of the month - and no return! The sun is shining this morning, the cats are skittish and the deer have been running around the garden. It's April! I'm going to struggle a bit with posting a poem a day as I will be away at my daughters from Saturday until Wednesday but I can either write ahead or catch up when I get back. Then I'll be in Cardiff for a conference on the last two days of April. I feel like I'm cheating if I don't post on the day. Good luck everyone!

Don't feel like it's cheating to catch up, Kim. It's 30 poems in 30 days here - write at your own pace and convenience.

Happy April everyone! I am on my way to Eureka Springs to attend the Lucidity Ozark Poetry Retreat. I hope to be able to keep up with a poem a day while I'm away. I know I will get behind on reading everyone's poetry, but will catch up when I get back home next week!

thank you Marian for the S&G memories and the pinch punch of a poem for the Ist of this month - I shall not be doing 30 days though!

Hi Laura, I tried to comment on your site but it would not allow me to publish my thoughts unless I log in a certain way. So sorry. I loved your poem.

Marian, you are sooo nice. Thank you for hosting.
Happy to all !!! My April Fool Joke. (a greeting, not a joke)
I couldn't not post on the first day of NaPoWri Month so I did. This year a joke that isn't funny. Just weird.

That's beautiful when sung by Paul. It brought nice and not memories of one of my lives, thirteen years.

I am a big a fan of Simon & Garfunkel. The first ever record I bought in life was of their Central Park concert. Thanks for opening an April of good memories.

Happy April! The sky is blue, the weather is warmish, my daffodils and narcissus are in bloom. Yippee!!! I have done NAPOWRIMO for two years straight. A record for me. Hope you all have a wonderful April writing a poem a day.

Good Luck to everyone this April - however much or little you choose to play along. :)

Thanks for kicking things off Marian and a huge thank you to all those who will be hosting, prompting and inspiring us along the way during this "crazy" month of poetry explorations and poeming.

Wonderful poems to kick off the shenanigans!! Thank you all for participating. I walked around with Art Garfunkel playing in my head all day and surely that is a good thing. :)

Marian--I don't think I'll be able to do this month, but couldn't resist your beginning. Thanks!

I keep coming back and playing that song. I thought I knew all of Simon and Gar, but not that one until now – and I so love it.
