My Dearest Book, I Wrote You a Poem…

Greetings, dear Toads, and welcome to another Weekend Mini-Challenge. Yesterday was International Literacy Day. I wish to mark the occasion by writing a poem… to a book. Not a poem about a book. Not a book review shaped as a poem.

This week, I invite you to write a new poem dedicated to a novel or a poetry collection you love. You can use the poetic form of your choice, but your entry should contain 131 words or fewer. Please share the book title (some of us might want to read it).

In the poem, you can choose to tell your book anything you like: how you feel about its words, or what reading its words has done to you (for you), or how you miss it when you don’t read if for a while… The possibilities are endless.

Add the direct link to your new poem to Mr. Linky.
Visit other Toads. Delight in their book-loving poetry.

The side bar chat was not there for me this morning - couldn't log on ... I have a question for you bloggers who use Blogspot. I currently use Googles "blogger" smart phone app but it will no longer be available with the next iPhone update - and it bleeps me out of it all the time when I comment... I have been traveling a lot lately to visit children in various cities and I don't have a lap top. So that puts me behind in participating and commenting...

So my question is what phone app (if you use Blogspot for your blogging) do you have for your smart phone? I uploaded (downloaded?) don't know my terminology - one and it is SO complicated. So if you don't mind can you let me know if you have a blogspot smart phone app and which one? Thanks!

A very intriguing prompt for we book-lovers. Cool.

Mine has 8 extra words. Consider them "alternate blanks."

@Margaret, I use WordPress for blogging. But I have a Blogger profile, which I use for commenting only--I don't post with my phone. So, I am no help. Sorry.

@Sherry, Can't wait to read about a book you love.

@Fireblossom, Bwahahaha!

Instinct pointed me straight to the book...and I wrote in a very 'not me' style I think...odd! Great prompt.

Thank you for this lovely prompt! Margaret, I use word press and I do not use my phone to post. I use a tablet most of the time but it is still set up for word press. I can post comments on Blogger as I have a google account. Maybe setting up a google account and using it will help you. I use my identity, Toni Spencer rather than other i.d.s on Blogger.

This might be the most selfish prompt I've ever shared. Seriously, the poetry you've been birthed is wonderful, and I've already added 5 delicious books to my reading list. I'm all grins and greedy smiles. Keep them coming!

An utterly irresistible prompt, Magaly. I very much enjoyed responding to it.

@Margaret, I don't use my smart phone for the internet, but travel with my iPad Mini. You can get the Blogger app from the app store. Also you can get a Google app for searching, plus my iPad came with Safari. You can put another browser on if you don't like Safari. With either Google or a browser, you can access your blog in the usual way, which gives you a few more options than the Blogger ap. I imagine all this would be equally possible on your smart phone.

Thank you, Magaly. Happy weekend all.

I love this prompt, Magaly, but it caused such a dilemma of choice! I was going to go for Le Grand Meaulnes by Alain-Fournier, but then I decided on The Night Circus. They are similar in many ways.

So many very beautiful poems! I am not much up to commentary but I have read them all.

I, too, have been enjoying the reading, Kerry. Times are so difficult, and poetry we love about things we love (books) soothes my soul (and my to-read list grows happier).
