Open Link Monday

Calling all amphibians...

It's Monday in the garden, and Memorial Day for our friends in the United States, and a reminder to all of us that our fallen soldiers should not be forgotten - they died for the peace we have inherited.  Perhaps you would like to link up a poem which could loosely fall under the theme of memories, commemoration, memorial or remembrance.  Alternately, this open link allows us to feature a poem that has been forgotten, and buried somewhere in our archives.  Why not give it a second chance today?  Remember to share the love around, visit the sites of your fellow poets and spread goodwill among all friends and followers of Real Toads.

In honor of Memorial Day, I offer a poem I'd previously written, focusing on the sacrifice of a single man, exemplifying what all war veterans have put on the line for us.

I love the picture you have included, Kerry. I love our service people for their bravery and sacrifice, but I often despise governments for sending them into harm's way when it isn't really necessary to do so.

I posted a Memorial Day poem I wrote three days ago. I am soon on my way to watch my Cub Scout grandson march in a Memorial Day parade & take part in a ceremony after that. I'll be back.

For lack of being able to remember if I have poem that falls in this category, I'm going to link one that commemorates living life according to one's calling.

Warm smiles to all in the pond today!

I'm linking up for the first time today. Thanks for the prompt.

I did not look back through my work for an appropriate poem, though I have many. I was in a Memorial Day mood, so I wrote a reflection, but it probably belongs on my blog blog, "Susan, continued. . . . at http://susan60.blogspot.com/

And as usual, I have been inspired by many of the poems I read through this site!

Mine is irrelevant to the holiday. You know how I am with rules.

Goodness did I enjoy Hannah's poem.

My McAfee simply will not let me visit Shanyn's blog, which I find incredibly frustrating.
