I always look forward to Mondays as a happy time of getting together to share the joy of poetry, but in setting up this post, I'm am all too conscious of the tragic loss of human life in Connecticut last week. All of us at Real Toads send our deepest condolences to the bereaved families, along with our love and prayers. Let us dedicate this open link to the children and their teachers, all the brave people who did their utmost to protect the vulnerable, and those who lost their lives.
I happily will go back and dedicate this poem. It is too soon for me to write about the event in question, but this poem loves teaching and children and community.
I apologize for not having read the text...I just dashed in this morning and linked up as per normal. I don't think I would have written on this subject in any case, but I wouldn't have linked something totally unrelated, either. Sorry about that, gang.
I wrote my poem on Saturday to express my sorrow at Friday's horrendous events. The poem I will link today is one I have been working on with poets' favourite words, when I can finally get it to make sense.
kerry, I was going to post my Newtown poem, but today an unexpected blessing came my way, and I just wrote this. I hope all can find some solace in my poem. Take heart: Night only casts a pall when we forget to turn on our lights. Keep your lamps trimmed and burning, folks, and remember to hug every kid you know extra hard. Love love love, Amy
My response to the Sandy Hook shooting. It's late and I'm drained but I promise to be back tomorrow and read these wonderful poems. Thank you for the forum.
