All Mixed Up!!!

Happy Friday my dear Toads, Herotomost here with another improvised challenge, I nearly forgot that I was up today. My post vacation memory still has me sitting on the beach, talking to the Argentinean girls and scarfing on fish tacos that only we were able to get much to the chagrin and irritation of the rest of the guests.  I felt like royalty. Its nice to be special...lol.

Anywho, enough about all that. I want to talk about the age old romantic art of arranging mix tapes for your mad crush. You know, that one mix of perfectly ordered songs that you knew would bring that special someone to their knees, the one that would endear you to him/her so completely that you spent hours trudging through your collection to show them your wide range of musical tastes and the fact that you are as hip as any beatnik sipping coffee and wearing turtle necks on the second floor of Vesuvio.

So to honor this tradition of love, I want you to write me something that screams "look at me my love", but not in a way that is lacy and ethereal like some writing about love.  I want you to be cheesy, lusty, rapturous, obsessed, candid, fun, belligerent or awkward.  I want the real face of love, clumsy and heady, obtuse and full of blushing. You can use the mix tape as a subject or not, but I want that idea to at least hang in the air. This should be new writing, poem, snippet, billboard, short story, autobiography or an ode to a long lost tribe of talking rabbits....I am easy....you know that.

If you feel that this challenge is not for you, you are welcome to skip it or write whatever the hell you want, I like that too. If your piece will over 300,000 words long please inform Kerry as she will already be mad that I have spoken of romance once again, although in my defense...it has been awhile and spring is coming, you know about a young (ha!) mans fancy!!!!!!

Thanks so much for at least considering the challenge, I always look forward to seeing what you have up your sick little sleeves.  Love you all!!!!!

OMG, Corey. I know just the tape. I made it for whatsisname to whom I'm now married. So it worked.
But I have to tidy the kitchen, put out the dog, bring in the dog, then go to bed.
So...tomorrow, after Canada beats the US at hockey once again...

Thanks Hero cool prompt.

The problem is I am having an obsessive closure issue - I have my poem written but the link is corrupt and I can't post it on the site.

Ugh

I will be unable to resolve my day until this is fixed.

Ha ha (but seriously)

When we were dating (we are talking like a quarter century ago), my husband was always making tapes (yes, tapes) of dance party mixes. I listened to them for so long, well after CD's came out - until they broke. Then he moved to a collection of CD's and he had them all labeled and then… well, now it's all digital.

He still brings his iPod with him (and often his good quality speakers) to a party in case what they have is "bad" and often his speakers and music is used. Gotta love the 1980's for rejuvenating a dude of a party… Plus, my husband loves throwing a bit of disco in there :)

I am trying to figure out HOW to write a poem with all these old tunes, though. I guess I have to put my thinking cap on. I have a busy day, but I will be back (maybe Monday) as I just have to write to this.

Too funny! A great visual. I listened to tons of music this morning for which I thank you--what a day! I found myself stuck in West Side Story, before all the shooting began.

My second husband and I were the original mixed tapes freaks, and while I don't know how much unbridled cheesy love I have to offer, I do know I can go there, even if my music may be a bit antique for you, Corey. Thanks for a great prompt. I shall return.

hell, I'm trying to decide if I should trash the CD's an ex gave me. really cool mixes - but every time I listen it reminds me of her. i've been on an anti- fix lately, and now this? yeesh. maybe I'll sit this one out... ~

I sort of bent the rules a tad on this one.. it is not so much a mix of songs but one particular one ... but I did mange to keep it under 300,000 words... :)

Waaaa! So many fab poems and I'm stuck on this one. Every time I start something I hit a wall. Maybe because I spent so much time forgetting those mix tape guys, seems they don't want to be dug up again, which is silly because it's such a lot of fun.

I need to try again! I think my first on was too revealing and now-it is flat! Try, try again~

my swill is up....i kind of went the post whatever you feel like. I am currently working on a prompt for my poetry mentorship, "The poem is a spell...." my spell is a spell of forgetting for a space captain set adrift from a dying planet.....my brain is broke, folks. I am basically writing on fumes. viva la, and thanks Corey.

Here's a mixed tape from me: something new, something old. My offering in place of a poem.

Mixed tapes, I had lots of them.. I went back to 1969 and pulled out one of our favorite songs...Charlie and mine that is.
