Wednesdays With Peggy

Things Carried

For some reason the book title “The Things They Carried" (by Tim O'Brien) hopped into my mind when I was thinking about the challenge for Toads.

We all carry many things: with our arms, our bodies, or with our minds.

Though the heavy things people physically carry might seem like the most difficult task, sometimes it is those things carried in the mind that are most challenging.  It is also a different kind of challenge to carry something very delicate or to carry something secretly.  And then there are the things animals carry.

This old saddle in Arizona carried someone on a horse, the words carry
a message.
All sorts of ways to think about things carried.  So that is the prompt for today: Write about  things carried.

Hikers carry all kinds of things
Many ways to carry things

What stories and memories might these men carry?

Post your offering below with Mr. Linky and then please read what others have written as well.

Thanks for this idea, Peggy! It lead me in a strange direction, but I won't carry any guilt about that. LOL

Thank you Peggy - good prompt though it took me to a place...
this is probably the most honest poem I have ever written. I posted it before I could change my mind.

Thank you for liking my prompt! (and yes that is me hiking in the reddish shirt) I am still working on my own response to my prompt--I seem to be very distracted and busy lately. Can hardly believe it's September already. I have enjoyed reading all the submissions so far--thank you all for sharing yourselves in this way.

Ideas are swirling, but I'm exhausted - it's almost 11pm . Hope I can find time to write to this prompt and if I do, obviously it will be late.

Great prompt! We do carry around so much. And the thing is, we never know what someone else is carrying. Not really.

Hi Peggy. I gave a light answer to a heavy prompt, at least heavy if based on this amazing author. Thank you.

Such a great prompt! I have been carrying it around with me for several hours now, still deciding what to write!

Late again, of course, of course! I actually wrote something earlier that was inspired by O'Brien's title. I'll look for the link and post it, if that's okay.

My close personal automaton friends at WordPress informed me this was my 200th post, so I'm glad this prompt came along, or I was stuck on 199 for a looooooong time.

Awesome prompt. I will be posting something tonight but had too many ideas that were generated...
a sign that this is a stimulating prompt that will keep peoples creative juices flowing long after they post.
Thank you very much,
Peace
