WEEKEND MINI-CHALLENGE: GRANDMA'S KITCHEN

For your weekend mini-challenge, re-visit your grandmother’s kitchen. Was it your safe place? Is there one item that stands out for you, when you remember being in that warm, bright room?

Tell us about it, any form, any length. Take us back there. Make us see it. How did you feel, as a child, back then, in your grandmother’s kitchen?

Good morning Sherry! Writing my poem made me wistful and sad - I love livinng with my nan when I was little and I miss her very much. I hope my grandson feels the same about me when he's older.

Greetings to my Real Toads family! I have been horribly absent for the last few prompts, for which I apologize. This is the time of year when my priority is yearly assessments of students and I have little time to indulge my creativity. But I do have a short break before the final push in October and November, so I hope to participate in as many prompts as I can.
Thank you all so much for your enthusiasm in both prompts and poetic responses. i have a lot of catching up to do!

Sherry, you are THE BEST, well for today.
I tried to remember just enough to be "Mini", there were so many times. She was my favorite grandparent but I was Grandpa's favorite grandkid of us nine.
Thank you, Sherry,
..

I am glad this topic resonates, friends. Grandparents are so important to a child. My grandma was such a character. She had such a great cackle, and bequeathed it to me. LOL. I love being a grandma too. I am looking forward to all the remembering.

Kerry, it sounds like such a busy time for you. Thanks for stopping by!

For my grandmother the kitchen was probably the room that mattered the least... she was not much of cook, and the few times when we had a formal dinner she brought in someone else to do the cooking... but I do remember the breakfasts.

It is bedtime here, so I will be back tomorrow to read.

playing so late and will visit and comment mid-morning tomorrow - it's been a busy week. Can't wait to read the poems. I think of my Grandma every time I scramble eggs... This is a poem I would never have written if not for this prompt. Thank you, Sherry.
