One must make a distinction however: when dragged into prominence by half poets, the result is not poetry, nor till the autocrats among us can be “literalists of the imagination”—above insolence and triviality and can present for inspection, imaginary gardens with real toads in them, shall we have it.

Flash 55 PLUS!

Greetings to all poets and friends!
It is time for the Flash 55 Challenge in the month of June. The rules of this prompt have not changed: Write a piece of poetry or prose on a subject of your choice in precisely 55 WORDS.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

PLUS!

For the OPTIONAL EXTRA part of this challenge, I invite you to choose a line or two of one of the saddest songs ever written as inspiration for your piece. The quotation itself will not fall within the parameters of the 55 words. Feel free to select words from a song featured in the clip, or from a personal favourite of your own which did not make the list.

That top ten selection started to brew all kinds of memories, Kerry...

Happiest Saturday, everyone.

Thanks for the plus part, Kerry--helped me focus, and lately I need all the help I can get.

I think music is one of the few things that can move me to tears... and I do have so many on my list... so I just picked another one.

Great "plus", Kerry. I loved the video.

Kerry--I loved the plus and could not keep myself to 55 words. So sorry--it is still pretty short - but not 55. Do feel free to delete the link for not conforming. k.

Nice prompt Kerry. I always luv the challenge of count 55. I didn't use the Top Ten List though. The song i chose, for me is sadder, as it brings back sad memories

much love...

Alright, music prompts are just plain old Rommy bait! Forgive me for my over excitement and submitting two today.

Friends, I am finding it very hard to write anything of worth to myself and others this month. I have shared the result of several attempts at scratching out a few lines.

If anyone feels like they are on a roll, however, please share more than one poem and song.

Thank you for the inspiration, Kerry. I'm sharing a song that has been a theme song for me this month...it definitely strikes a chord for me.

I've written a message to everyone in the chat-box...I'm moving this summer but I will be around for my prompt and as often as I can otherwise...hope to be back to normal by next season.

Smiles to all!

Ah yes, I bet we all have THAT song, for melancholy wallowing. The ones on the list were great, but mine is a different one (which I am sure will be well-known).
