Monday // Soviet Kitsch

Greetings Garden Dwellers.  Welcome back to our prompt-a-day parade here at Real Toads. Today, I’m embracing the spirit of my usual Out of Standard by making my first ever appearance on a Monday. So let’s dig in, shall we....

SOVIET KITSCH

Every Monday starts the same for me, longing to be on a fantastical voyage of some sort rather than making the slog into the office for another week of soul crushing office work.  So I am bringing you all the most fantastical images I could dredge up from wiki commons.....by which I mean amazing posters from Sci-Fi movies in the soviet union.

Use as many of the below images to write a poem.  If none of these images strike your fancy, feel free to use another Sci Fi movie poster that you find online.

KEEP IN MIND

Like every challenge, your poem must by newly written for this challenge and not one which you have previously written which conveniently fits the theme.

So go now, my muddy buddies, and bring us back something shiny and new...

I might use the only Soviet SF movie I ever watched (and where I read the book). Solaris by Andrei Tarkovski... This poster is pretty cool too... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solaris_(1972_film)#/media/File:Solyaris_ussr_poster.jpg

We actually saw the film as part of our studies in Philosophy back in school.

I just wanted to say I truly love this sort of thing. If there is an afterlife (meh, there is, it would be too easy to just die and not have to stress any more) I will spend it exploring other planets!
Sorry to hear that you have a soul destroying job. Such a thing is bad for anyone, but it's like adding insult to injury for a creative personality, I feel.

Gemma, I love that you thought Solaris to be nice to do... your perspective is probably entirely different.

(trying for the 3rd time to leave a comment - is it a blogger/wordpress thing?!) - Did not think I could do this one but glad I gave it a try - an unsual prompt to get the creative juices slathering

Once I get to a place where my firewall does not hate Mr. Linky with the passion of a thousand suns, I will post my effort, which is kinda sorta relevant to the prompt, so you have been warned.

Oh, I love this! I went totally silly with this one, with a pinch of social commentary. :)

I've never seen a soviet sci fi! And now I feel like I'm missing out! What a fun prompt.

A fun prompt! I wrote what may be my first persona poem for this month, which is something I usually do quite often. I love these posters.
