Poems in April - Riddikulus!

The following is one of my favorite scenes from the movie version of my favorite Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkeban. In it, Harry and the other children have to face a boggart as part of their class assignment. I’ll let Professor Lupin explain the rest.

Childhood fears—it’s likely you might have had one or two of them. For today’s prompt I’m going to ask you to revisit them, but with a twist. I want you to write about a situation that would scare whatever it was you were scared of. For instance, if you were scared of clowns, imagine one getting terrified when they ended up at an insurance seminar instead of at one of their usual haunts.

New poems only please. And support your fellow Toads by hopping over to their pads and seeing how their words tame the things that go bump in the night.

Good morning Toads! I'm sorry I'm not keeping up with reading and commenting at the moment but I'm having far too much fun with my grandson. I hope I don't scare you today; as you've probably gathered, I'm not only scared of dolls but also ventriloquist dummies. I chose the least scary image to avoid nightmares!

Thank you, Rommy. This prompt was a great opportunity to reassess my childhood fears and see what had become of them.

Thank you for a great prompt Rommy. Revisiting my childhood fears is always interesting.

As Kerry mentioned, your prompt was a good opportunity to look backward and remember those fears, all of which have still to be abandoned. :-)

great prompt Rommy, thank you. I'm not sure i really got to the meat of it in mine, but i was trying to keep it compact.

I outgrew my childhood fears in favor of real adult fears. so I addressed that. And my parents helped with dissolving the fears of childhood.

I'm over the fear, but I'd like to put a few scares in. :)

Mine turned out surprisingly long and preachy! (Sorry.) A voyage of self-discovery, actually.

Sarah McNulty, can't find how to leave a comment on this post, sorry. I would have said, 'Snap! But yours is much more succinct.'
