Get Listed! ~ The Compound Word Edition

Do you love words like superstructure, riverbank, carpetbagger as much as I do? I find they have a very satisfying effect upon the tongue and mind.

The word challenge for our month of April Madness is to use compound words in constructive and imaginative ways.

I do love compound words, especially the ones that (like you suggest) make funny pictures in my head, or interesting sounds in my ears. I can't remember how young I was when I felt in love with the word "backbone", but it was one of my first loves.

Compound words are wonderful things and you have probably noticed I am prone to making up my own a lot--this challenge actually seems like I may be able to write to it--we shall see. Thanks, Kerry!

I'm happy to know this is a fun challenge. Unfortunately, my own fun is being curtailed by a Parent-Teacher meeting this evening (There is a compound word I could live without!) I may have to come back to this one myself.

I love compound words... and even more creating your own... But that might come in a future prompt :-) Let's see if I can come up with any..

At first I was stumped... Then I started throwing words together (which might not really have been the aim of the challenge) and had some real fun! Great prompt!

PS: Can somebody remove number 19 Linky for me? I posted a link for a fellow poet at dVerse yesterday, and forgot to change my name info back. Sorry 'bout that. Gracias.

I posted up had an entirely different entry for today's NaPoWriMo. Then you guys compounded the issue with your prompt. My muse saw "fireflies" and it was over.

A little late getting here, but glad the prompt sparked a poem I needed to write.
